“We will miss you dearly, Apa."

Veteran television actress Gulshan Ara Ahmed passed away on the morning of April 15, 2025. She was 59 years old.

It was reported that she had been placed on life support in the ICU but could not recover.

The heartbreaking news was confirmed through a post on her official Facebook page, where her family announced:

“My mother, Gulshan Ara Ahmed, passed away this morning at 6:40. Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un. She will be laid to rest today in Brahmanbaria.”

Filmmaker Kajal Arefin Ome, who had worked closely with her, paid tribute.

She wrote: “Our beloved Gulshan Ara Ahmed Apa left us this morning at 6:40.”

Kajal, who directed the hit comedy-drama Bachelor Point, further recalled Gulshan’s role in the series and her remarkable screen presence.

“In Bachelor Point, she portrayed Kabila’s mother and the Chairman of Noakhali.

“We will miss you dearly, Apa. May Allah forgive her sins and grant her a place in Jannatul Ferdous. Ameen.”

Gulshan Ara began her acting career in 2002 as a registered artiste with Bangladesh Television (BTV).

The actress quickly established herself through a variety of compelling performances.

Though her early years were devoted to television dramas, she always had ambitions of making a name in film.

That dream took shape when she debuted in Kodom Ali Mastan, directed by the late Enayet Karim.

Over the years, she appeared in several films, including Hridoyer Kotha, Doctor Bari, Bhalobasha Aajkal, and Lal Shari.

Her roles, whether comedic or serious, consistently left a lasting impression on audiences.

However, it was her role in Bachelor Point that brought her renewed fame and connected her with a new generation of viewers.

Her portrayal of Kabila’s eccentric mother, as well as the memorable character of the Noakhali Chairman, became audience favourites.

Her passing has left a significant void in the Bangladeshi entertainment industry.

Condolences have poured in from fellow actors, directors, and fans.

Drama and film organisations have issued statements honouring her legacy and recognising her decades of contribution to the field.

Gulshan Ara Ahmed’s work spoke for itself – authentic, warm, and filled with life.

She not only entertained but inspired those who followed her journey.

Her memory now lives on through the characters she brought to life and the hearts she touched along the way.
