"Nearly 100,000 people gathered outside the venue"

Filming for Hanif Sanket’s iconic TV programme Ityadi was halted, apparently due to a violent altercation and vandalism.

The episode, which was recorded at the historic Tonkonath Zamindar Bari in Ranisankail, Thakurgaon, drew an overwhelming crowd.

Things became chaotic as videos of a chair-throwing incident from the event quickly went viral.

In response, Hanif Sanket issued a detailed statement on Facebook addressing the situation.

He claimed that the disruptions were due to the immense enthusiasm of the audience, not any form of violence or vandalism.

The host explained: “Nearly 100,000 people gathered outside the venue, eager to watch the filming.”

Despite seating arrangements for 6,000 attendees, the unexpected influx caused overcrowding, leading to a brief suspension of the shoot.

Sanket described how the massive crowd attempted to breach the bamboo barriers set up for crowd control.

Chairs were moved around to make space, resulting in the chair-throwing incident that became a focal point of online speculation.

He remarked: “The situation did not arise from any attack, vandalism, or fighting, but rather from the immense love and enthusiasm of the audience for Ityadi.”

The filming resumed peacefully with assistance from the police, army, and local residents.

However, a significant portion of the audience had already left by the time order was restored.

Sanket noted that the disruption stemmed from logistical challenges rather than any malicious intent.

He categorically denied any political affiliation of the show, saying:

“Certain individuals are exaggerating the event, spreading false information, and attempting to distort the truth with political agendas.”

Sanket highlighted Ityadi‘s enduring popularity and its unbroken connection with viewers over its 37-year history.

He added: “Despite challenges, the immense turnout in Thakurgaon reaffirms the affection people have for the show.”

Sanket emphasised that previous episodes filmed in Sherpur and Bagerhat with tens of thousands of attendees went smoothly, demonstrating the show’s appeal.

Addressing criticisms, Sanket stressed the importance of separating misinformation from reality.

He asserted:

“False narratives cannot weaken the deep bond between Ityadi and its audience.”

Additionally, Hanif Sanket expressed gratitude for the unwavering support of viewers.

Fans responded to his explanation of the events and voiced their opinion.

A user said: “Wherever you do a program in the future, try to do it on the national grounds of that district so that 40/50 thousand people can see and sit. People’s love for Ityadi has increased.”

Another wrote: “It might be right to choose a bigger scale space according to the popularity of your event.”

Ityadi, renowned for showcasing Bangladesh’s heritage, remains a cultural cornerstone even amidst challenges.
