“You should be in my bed.”
Hafsa Butt has reignited the casting couch conversation by sharing a disturbing personal experience from her early career.
During a recent interview on FHM Pakistan, the model and actress spoke candidly about the inappropriate propositions she received in showbiz.
Hafsa revealed that shortly after she entered the entertainment industry, she was messaged late at night by a powerful figure, implying she could land a lead role in return for “favours”.
When she asked what the message meant, his response was chilling: “You should be in my bed.”
Her straightforward disclosure quickly spread across social media, with many praising her honesty and others questioning her intentions.
While some applauded her for shedding light on the industry’s darker side, others accused her of using it as a publicity stunt.
Comments online ranged from “This is the harsh truth of showbiz” to “This happens in every profession, not just entertainment”.
Known for her frank nature, Hafsa had taken a break from acting to complete her education before returning to television dramas.
She is now being recognised not just for her roles but for speaking out on issues many others avoid discussing publicly.
In addition to the casting couch remarks, Hafsa recently appeared on a podcast where she talked about her personal values.
She said she could never marry a man who drinks alcohol, explaining how such habits can destroy families and peace at home.
She emphasised the importance of responsibility, stating her ideal husband would be hardworking and focused on building a stable life.
Hafsa further mentioned her desire for a partner who is well-educated and financially secure, valuing balance and a simple home.
Her comments reflect a strong set of principles and a clear vision of the life she hopes to build for herself.
Despite ongoing criticism, Hafsa continues to stand firm in her beliefs and has called for a more respectful, open dialogue.
Adding weight to Hafsa Butt’s claims, fellow actress Zhalay Sarhadi recently shared a similar experience during Ahmad Ali Butt’s podcast.
Zhalay confirmed the casting couch exists in the industry and admitted she, too, had once been propositioned early in her career.
She was told plainly:
“If you want to play your desired role, you need to do what other women do – sleep with directors.”
Though the offer wasn’t physically aggressive, the message left her emotionally shaken.
Zhalay Sarhadi said she warned the individual never to speak that way to her again, or she would slap him.
