Police in Canada are investigating a shooting outside Punjabi singer Chani Nattan’s home after the Lawrence Bishnoi gang allegedly claimed responsibility for the attack.

Officers said a social media post from an account named Goldy Dhillon, believed to be a close aide of Bishnoi, took credit for the incident.

According to the alleged post, Chani was targeted over his growing closeness with fellow singer Sardar Khehra.

The alleged post read: “The reason for the shooting at singer Chani Nattan’s house is Sardar Khehra.

“Any singer who works with or has any connection with Sardar Khehra in the future will be responsible for their own losses, because we will continue to inflict significant damage (harm) on Sardar Khehra.

“We have no personal enmity with Chani Nattan.”

Police said they are verifying the authenticity of the post.

A 15-second video circulating on social media captured multiple gunshots fired at a house during the night.

Officers confirmed that shots were fired outside Chani Nattan’s home, though it is not known if anyone was inside at the time.

Born in Surrey, Canada, Chani Nattan gained recognition for his lyrical storytelling and collaborations with other artists.

His songs often mix traditional Punjabi sounds with contemporary beats, resonating with Punjabi youth in both India and Canada.

Over the years, he has become a prominent figure in the Punjabi diaspora music industry, frequently working with producers and singers from Punjab while staying based in Canada.

The shooting adds to the growing concern over the Indian gang networks in Canada.

Police said the attack mirrors a recent rise in violent acts attributed to the Bishnoi gang and its associates abroad.

On October 16, comedian Kapil Sharma’s Kap’s Cafe in Surrey, British Columbia, was attacked for the third time in a span of just four months.

The assault was claimed via social media by Goldy Dhillon and Kulveer (Kuldeep) Sidhu.

The latest attack occurred only two weeks after the cafe reopened with additional security.

Punjabi singer Teji Kahlon was left injured after being shot.

Members of the Rohit Godara gang claimed responsibility. Godara was once an associate of Bishnoi.

Darshan Singh Sahsi, who ran a successful cloth and textile recycling business, was shot dead in an alleged targeted attack.

Lawrence Bishnoi, who has been operating his gang from behind bars in India, remains a key figure in a growing web of organised crime that has extended beyond Indian borders.

Police in Canada have yet to confirm if any arrests have been made in connection with the shooting at Nattan’s residence. The investigation remains ongoing.
