Punjabi singer Teji Kahlon was shot in the stomach in what police suspect was a targeted gang attack in Canada.

The artist, known for songs such as ‘Mithi Jail’ and ‘Jhoomar’, is reportedly recovering from his injuries.

Authorities have not confirmed the location, timing, or circumstances of the shooting. No arrests have been made so far.

The attack has raised fresh concerns over the growing reach of Indian gang networks operating overseas.

In a Facebook post, three men, identified as Mahender Saran Dilana, Rahul Rinau, and Vicky Phalwan, claimed responsibility.

The trio are allegedly part of the Rohit Godara gang, which has been linked to a series of violent incidents in India and abroad.

The post read: “We carried out the shooting in Canada at Teji Kahlon. He was shot in the stomach. If he understands, fine. If not, next time we will finish him.”

Kahlon was accused of funding rival gangs, supplying weapons, and acting as an informant. It also warned others against helping Godara’s enemies.

The post continued: “Let me make it clear: if anyone, even by mistake, supports our enemies or helps them in any way, we will not spare their families. We’ll destroy them.

“This is a warning to all brothers, businessmen, builders, hawala operators, and whoever else.

“If anyone helps, they will be our enemy. This is just the beginning. Watch what happens next.”

The message ended with a chilling statement: “Anyone supporting our enemies will be treated as one.”

The attack comes amid a rise in overseas violence linked to Indian-origin gangs. Rivalries between factions like the Godara-Brar and Bishnoi syndicates have escalated across borders.

In September 2024, gunmen fired outside AP Dhillon’s Vancouver home. The Bishnoi-Godara faction, before their split, claimed responsibility for that attack.

Rohit Godara, also known as Rawatram Swami, is wanted by the National Investigation Agency and several Indian states.

He is accused of orchestrating multiple murders, including those of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala in 2022, gangster Raju Thehat in 2022, and Karni Sena leader Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi in 2023.

Once an ally of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, Godara later broke away and is believed to be operating from the United Kingdom. He is now reportedly aligned with Canada-based gangster Goldy Brar, another former Bishnoi associate thought to be hiding in the United States.

Their feud with Bishnoi’s network has led to several revenge attacks abroad. A recent shooting in California targeted Bishnoi aide Hari “Boxer”.

One of his associates died at the scene, and another was hospitalised.

Godara claimed responsibility for that attack, saying he and Brar organised the operation together.

As Teji Kahlon recovers, police in Canada are yet to confirm whether the singer was deliberately targeted or caught in gang crossfire. The investigation remains ongoing.
