"The nation knows what they want to know."
Fawad Khan has finally addressed the controversy surrounding his inclusion as a judge on Pakistan Idol.
In a video circulating widely on social media, a reporter asked him about his experience as a judge on the show.
Fawad, calm and smiling, replied: “The nation knows what they want to know. Today, everyone knows everything.”
He explained that Pakistan Idol is not merely a competition but a platform to showcase young talent and emerging voices.
Fawad said: “Whenever I sit in a chair like this, I remember Battle of the Bands, where I once began my journey.”
He spoke about how those early experiences taught him that such platforms are primarily about exposure and encouragement for artists.
Fawad recalled how many talented musicians first appeared on similar stages years ago.
“It’s always been about entertainment and discovery.
“When I’m watching the contestants perform, I feel like I’m part of the audience, cheering for every one of them.”
He emphasised that victory on such shows is secondary, but the recognition an artist gains is what truly matters.
Fawad said: “The truth is, only one person wins, but for everyone else, the world has now seen them.
“This stage becomes a calling card, a powerful introduction that can open countless doors for future opportunities.”
The actor’s comments surfaced after another video from a Neelofar music launch in Lahore went viral.
When asked whether he had sung any track for the film, Fawad jokingly replied:
“No, I haven’t sung any song. Pakistan isn’t letting me sing.”
His witty comments spread quickly across platforms, delighting his fans.

Many admired his humour and composure, appreciating how he responded with charm rather than reacting defensively to ongoing criticism.
His remarks come after Humaira Arshad recently reignited the debate, questioning the credibility of the judging panel of Pakistan Idol.
Without naming Fawad Khan directly, she remarked that some judges lacked authentic musical roots and were chosen for fame alone.
Her comments fueled a larger conversation about whether such shows now prioritise star power over genuine artistic merit.
Fawad’s supporters, however, were quick to remind everyone of his deep musical foundation long before his acting career began.
They also note that Bilal Maqsood, another judge on the panel, shares a similarly strong musical legacy through the band Strings.
With Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Zeb Bangash joining them, the panel blends classical training with mainstream entertainment expertise.
