"This film combines psychological tension with humour."

Taka, an upcoming dark comedy thriller written and directed by Tarek Rahman, is set for release on November 20, 2025.

The film will premiere on Jago Entertainment’s official YouTube channel.

It explores greed, temptation, and the moral decay that follows when people lose themselves in the desperate pursuit of wealth.

Tarek Rahman, celebrated for his experimental style, described Taka as a rare mix of humour and psychological darkness.

He explained that in Bangladesh, the dark comedy thriller is still a new and developing cinematic territory for filmmakers.

Rahman believes the genre’s blend of tension and absurdity offers a powerful way to expose hypocrisy and the distortion of values.

According to him, Taka aims to make viewers laugh while confronting uncomfortable truths about ambition and ethical compromise.

He said: “This film combines psychological tension with humour to explore how desire distorts ethics.”

At the heart of the story is Farhan Ahmed Jovan, who delivers one of his most layered and challenging performances yet.

He plays a man consumed by greed and self-deception, drifting between desperation, delusion, and the absurdity of moral failure.

His role combines satire and tragedy, showing how ambition can twist ordinary desires into grotesque forms of self-destruction.

Opposite him, Keya Payel portrays the emotional counterbalance, bringing compassion, vulnerability, and quiet strength to the narrative’s darker undercurrents.

Together, they are set to capture the fragile tension between love, deceit, and the corrosive power of wealth in human relationships.

The supporting cast includes Shiba Shanu, Don, Arman Parvez Murad, A K Azad Setu, Parvez Suman, and Saimum Sajid.

Each actor adds complexity and nuance to the film’s tangled world of manipulation, loyalty, and moral ambiguity.

Cinematographer Sumon Hossain defines the film’s visual tone with striking imagery, while Saeed Nafis composes its evocative music.

Kamruzzaman Sumon enriches the atmosphere through meticulous art direction, and Masud Rana leads makeup, enhancing every character’s authentic presence.

The film is produced by Nazmul Huda Shapla under Jago Entertainment, with Masud Munsur as executive producer.

Uday Chowdhury coordinated the production, ensuring a seamless collaboration among departments that share Rahman’s commitment to artistic innovation.

Taka’s online release marks a notable shift in Bangladeshi cinema toward streaming platforms and digital-first distribution strategies.

Audiences increasingly seek original, thought-provoking experiences, and Taka arrives at a moment when such storytelling feels essential.

By choosing YouTube as its platform, Jago Entertainment demonstrates confidence in the country’s expanding digital audience.
