“This film requires a lot of stamina.”

Director Redoan Rony celebrated the launch of his highly anticipated film Domm at a grand mahurat ceremony at Gulshan Shooting Club.

The survival drama marks Rony’s long-awaited return to the big screen and stars Afran Nisho, Chanchal Chowdhury, and Puja Cherry in leading roles.

Jointly produced by Alpha i and Chorki, Domm is slated for release during Eid al-Fitr 2026 and will be filmed extensively in Kazakhstan.

Speaking at the event, Rony described the project as a story inspired by real events, one designed to push its cast to their emotional and physical limits.

He emphasised the challenges of bringing authenticity to a story set in harsh environments, saying:

“This film requires a lot of stamina.”

He added that Kazakhstan was chosen for its unforgiving climate and landscape, which perfectly complement the survival narrative and heighten the story’s realism.

Afran Nisho, taking on one of the lead roles, expressed excitement about collaborating with Rony for the first time in his cinematic career.

He said: “Rony bhai is returning to the screen after years, and I’m honoured to be part of that comeback.”

Nisho also praised the film’s layered storytelling.

Chanchal Chowdhury hinted at the film’s intensity with characteristic wit, suggesting the audience will fully experience the story’s power once it is released.

“We’re saving our breath until Domm reaches the audience so we can deliver it completely.”

For Puja Cherry, the project represents a milestone, marking her first collaboration with Nisho and her second with Chanchal.

She said: “This role required a tough audition and a lot of preparation, but I hope to give my best performance.”

Producer Shahriar Shakil explained that the production had been delayed due to the complexity of the script and the ambitious nature of the story.

“The only reason for the delay was the script’s difficulty.”

Shakil said the team wanted to ensure complete readiness before filming began.

Domm will be Rony’s third feature film, following his National Film Award–winning debut Chorabali, and builds on his reputation as a celebrated television director.

He has previously helmed successful series, including House Full, FnF, and Pata Jhorar Din, which helped establish his creative credibility.

Rony said he was drawn to Domm because of its emotional resonance and compelling narrative, describing it as the perfect film to mark his return.

The launch itself was a star-studded affair, with Puja Cherry making a striking entrance dressed in bridal attire.

On stage, her co-stars Afran Nisho and Chanchal Chowdhury greeted her amid applause.

Domm promises to be an ambitious survival film that tests its characters and captivates audiences.
