Is Joel the father of her child?
Trouble keeps following Avani Nandra-Hart (Aaliyah James) in BBC’s EastEnders.
In recent months, viewers have seen Avani deal with lots of challenges and obstacles.
These included a humiliating strip search by the police and a disastrous relationship with Joel Marshall (Max Murray).
Avani ended up losing her virginity to Joel, but ended up being the victim of vicious online trolling as a result of this.
However, what the teenager still does not know is that Joel filmed their sexual encounter without her consent.
Avani’s challenges will increase in upcoming episodes of EastEnders, as she discovers she is pregnant.
While the Slater family relish the thought of owning the Queen Vic pub, things are quite the opposite at the Panesar house.
Suki Panesar-Unwin (Balvinder Sopal) will not be impressed after Vinny Panesar (Shiv Jalota) plans to attend Ashneet ‘Ash’ Panesar’s (Gurlaine Kaur Garcha) engagement party.
The matriarch was heartbroken that her daughter Ash did not even bother to tell her that she was getting married.
After their confrontation, Vinny will give Suki some harsh home truths about her parenting.
Avani’s doting father, Ravi Gulati (Aaron Thiara), has also spiralled back into drug-dealing in an attempt to salvage the family’s financial problems.
Taking advantage of her family’s distraction, Avani will confide in her friend Barney Mitchell (Lewis Bridgeman) about her pregnancy.
However, Suki later catches Avani browsing a family planning website.
Will Avani’s truth be discovered and is Joel the father of her child?
These spoilers did not go down too well with netizens. One fan wrote:
“If Joel is the father of Avani’s baby, I’ll be physically sick. Man literally had sex with her and filmed her without consent.
“They are also underage.”
Another said: “Another teen pregnancy storyline. Oh, joy.
“Avani deserves better storylines, to be fair.”
EastEnders is not a stranger to storylines involving teenage pregnancy.
One of its very first major plots in the 1980s saw a then 16-year-old Michelle Fowler (Susan Tully) fall pregnant by the much older Den Watts (Leslie Grantham).
More recently, Lily Slater (Lillia Turner) also found herself pregnant in January 2023.
Meanwhile, EastEnders is currently undergoing significant changes under the new Executive Producer, Ben Wadey.
The show has recently seen the reintroductions of Zoe Slater (Michelle Ryan) and Oscar Branning (Pierre Moullier).
It was recently confirmed that Max Branning (Jake Wood) would also soon be returning to the show.
The character departed Walford in 2021 and his return promises to be nothing short of dramatic.
