“#Malang is a clean hit! Crosses 50 crores"
Mohit Suri’s crime thriller Malang (2020) has surpassed a milestone to become the third film of 2020 to join the Rs 50 crore (£5,398,235) mark.
The film was released on February 7, 2020, and is currently still going strong in its third week despite competition from newer releases like Love Aaj Kal 2 (2020).
Malang’s box office figures are testimony to its success with audiences worldwide as it stands at Rs 56.46 crores (£6,095,993.43).
It appears trade experts and analysts were closely watching the box office figures for the film.
Before Malang (2020) hit the Rs 50 crore (£5,398,235) mark, trade expert Adarsh took to Twitter to total the box office figures. He tweeted:
“#Malang will hit Rs 50 cr (£5,398,235) today (Tue; Day 12) … (Week 2) Fri 2.25 cr (£242,932.79), Sat 2.52 cr (£272,101.03), Sun 3.25 cr (£350,903.42), Mon 1.53 cr (165,194.53). Total: Rs 49.20 cr (£5,311,518.84). #India biz.”
Adarsh’s tweet was followed up by trade analyst Ramesh Bala who announced the news of Malang (2020) crossing the Rs 50 crore (£5,398,235) mark. He said:
“#Malang is a clean hit! Crosses 50 crores (£5,398,235) mark and becomes the third film of 2020 to cross this mark so far!
“Day collection stands at 1.49 crore (£160,881.98). (Week 2) Fri 2.25 cr (£242,932.79), Sat 2.52 cr (£272,101.03). Sun 3.25 cr (£350,903.42) Mon 1.53 cr (165,194.53), Tue 1.49 cr (£160,874.68). Total – 50.69 cr (£5,474,180.88).”
Featuring Aditya Roy Kapur, Disha Patani, Anil Kapoor and Kumal Kemmu in lead roles, Malang (2020) follows their character’s story and their thrill to kill.
The film revolves around Advait (Aditya) who meets free-spirited Sara (Disha). Their love blossoms as all seem right in life.
Suddenly, things take a turn for the worse. Years later, Advait (Aditya) sets out on a killing spree with police officers Aghase (Anil) and Michael (Kunal) in his path.
The revenge drama has been appreciated by both audiences and critics alike.
In particular, the sizzling chemistry between Aditya Roy Kapur and Disha Patani has been loved by the masses.
Ever since the release of the trailer their chemistry was the talk of Bollywood. Their spectacular underwater sequences caused a buzz amongst viewers.
Viewers also loved the rugged avatars of Kumal Kemmu and Anil Kapoor.
