Diljit Dosanjh set Desi hearts aflame after appearing in a now-viral video with Shakira at the 2025 Met Gala.
In a clip breaking the internet, the Colombian pop legend is seen sitting casually with the Punjabi singer in a vanity van. Nicole Scherzinger and Tessa Thompson are also present.
Shakira introduces everyone in the video and, when it comes to Diljit, says: “Say hi to India. Hi India.”
Fans online were quick to celebrate the cultural crossover, calling it a “moment for the history books”.
Before walking the red carpet, Diljit was photographed on a grand staircase during a pre-event shoot.

He posed with Shakira, Nicole Scherzinger, Tessa Thompson, and model Precious Lee. Also present was designer Prabal Gurung, a close friend of Diljit’s.
For the Met Gala, Diljit wore a custom ivory outfit by Prabal, paying tribute to his Sikh roots with striking elegance.
His ensemble blended tradition with modern tailoring, offering a deeply personal take on the night’s theme: Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.
Diljit’s sherwani-style angrakha featured a matching cape, turban, and layers of regal jewellery. But it was the details that told a richer story.
The cape was embroidered with the Mool Mantra in Gurmukhi, the opening verse of the Guru Granth Sahib.
This foundational Sikh prayer begins with:
“Ik Onkar, Satnam, Karta Purakh, Nirbhau, Nirvair, Akaal Moorat, Ajooni, Saibhang, Gurprasad.”
The mantra affirms the existence of one universal creator – timeless, fearless, self-existent, and without hatred.
Alongside the text, a golden map of Punjab was stitched into the fabric, grounding the outfit in the land and faith that shaped him.
Gurung, known for fusing Eastern and Western aesthetics, worked closely with Diljit Dosanjh to craft the look.
It was finished with layers of pearls and emeralds, ornate rings, brooches, and a royal turban, recalling the splendour of Maharaja Bhupinder Singh of Patiala.
He was one of the few Indian stars at the Met Gala this year.
Shah Rukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra, and Kiara Advani also attended. Kiara made headlines with a baby bump reveal in a Gaurav Gupta gown.
Diljit Dosanjh was among a select group of guests invited to Anna Wintour’s private dinner, dining alongside Shakira, Nicole Scherzinger, Gayle King, and other global names.
Diljit’s appearance at fashion’s biggest night was both a celebration of South Asian heritage and a defining moment for Desi representation on the world stage.
