Diljit Dosanjh expresses Excitement ahead of Met Gala Debut f

“There goes our plans to make reels all night.”

Diljit Dosanjh is heading to the Met Gala and he’s bringing his signature humour with him.

The singer and actor is among the select Indian celebrities attending fashion’s biggest night at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Diljit gave fans a sneak peek of his invitation on Instagram, unboxing the coveted card in a video that has quickly gone viral.

He wrote: “MET GALA Tomorrow ? Daso Fer Ki Paiye Kal Nu ? Halaa Laa Laa Karauni An? #metgala.”

In the clip, he said: “Henceforth even if a relative of mine doesn’t send me a wedding invitation card, I wouldn’t mind because I have with me an invite from the Met Gala.”

Taking the card out of a brown envelope with his name on it, Diljit read:

“The theme is Dandyism, and there’s an important note, which says: ‘The use of the cellphone and recording devices is prohibited in the evening’.”

With perfect comedic timing, he added:

“There goes our plans to make reels all night.”

Diljit Dosanjh also mentioned the names of this year’s co-chairs: ASAP Rocky, Pharrell Williams, LeBron James, and Vogue editor Anna Wintour.

He added: “Another important point to note: the event is slated to begin on Monday, 5th May at 5.30 pm.”

The Met Gala takes place every year on the first Monday of May and the world comes together to celebrate art, history and couture.

The event is an annual fundraising event for the Costume Institute of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, in the Upper East Side of New York City.

It marks the opening of the Institute’s spring fashion exhibition.

In October 2024, the Metropolitan Museum of Art announced the Costume Institute’s spring 2025 exhibition, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” to be on display from May 10 to October 26, 2025.

In line with the theme, this year’s dress code, “Tailored for You”, is a nod to Dandyism – a stereotype-bending menswear style and code of conduct prevalent in Black culture during the 18th and 19th centuries, defined by tailored outfits and elegant and refined silhouettes.

Alongside Diljit Dosanjh, other Indian celebrities are also expected to attend.

These include Shah Rukh Khan, who is reportedly making his Met Gala debut in collaboration with designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee.

Also attending are Kiara Advani, Priyanka Chopra and Isha Ambani.

Each will bring their own interpretations to the theme, adding South Asian flair to a night already rich in culture and couture.
