For her Met Gala debut, Alia Bhatt opted for a classy look, wearing a stunning white gown.
The Bollywood star turned to Nepalese-American designer Prabal Gurung.
The sleeveless all-white gown elegantly fit into the event’s theme of honouring Karl Lagerfeld.
Featuring a dramatic sheer train and thousands of pearl beads, the look gave off princess bride vibes, something that was a recurring theme in the decades-spanning catalogue of Lagerfeld’s work.
For accessories, Alia chose pearl-themed jewellery, including rings and earrings, which complemented her outfit perfectly.
She wore a single fingerless glove, which was one of Lagerfeld’s favourite accessories.
Despite being her Met Gala debut, Alia Bhatt oozed confidence as she posed for pictures.
Some of her fans called her name. Alia turned around, blew kisses and waved at them.
On Instagram, Alia said she was inspired by Claudia Schiffer’s 1992 Chanel bridal look and revealed that her outfit featured 100,000 pearls.
She wrote: “I have always been fascinated by the iconic Chanel brides.
“Season after season, the genius of Karl Lagerfeld shone through in the most innovative and awe-inspiring couture.
“My look tonight was inspired from this and in particular by supermodel Claudia Schiffer’s 1992 Chanel bridal look.
“I wanted to do something that felt authentic (hello, pearls!) and proudly made in India.
“The embroidery, made with a 100,000 pearls is a labour of love by @prabalgurung. I’m so proud to wear you for my first Met.
“A girl can never have too many pearls… and the right accessories to complement the look which in our case translated to the bow of pearls on my hair.”
The likes of Katrina Kaif and Manish Malhotra expressed their love for Alia’s look in the comment section.
Alia previously teased her Met Gala look, posting a monochrome picture of herself in the outfit.
The Met Gala always falls on the first Monday of May and the 2023 event celebrated Karl Lagerfeld, who passed away in 2019.

Meanwhile, Alia Bhatt is coming off her Filmfare win. She won ‘Best Actress’ for Gangubai Kathiawadi.
She is also set to make her Hollywood debut alongside Gal Gadot and Jamie Dornan. The film is set to release on Netflix in August 2023.
