Shah Rukh Khan made a historic debut at the 2025 Met Gala in New York, turning heads in a custom black Sabyasachi outfit that oozed power, elegance, and symbolism.
His look featured tailored black trousers, a long coat and shirt, elevated by bold, regal accessories.
SRK wore a layered stack of statement jewellery, including a sparkling ‘K’ necklace, which stood for ‘King’ according to his manager Pooja Dadlani.
He also came with chunky rings, a sceptre, and a jewelled brooch.
The ensemble aligned with this year’s dress code, Tailored for You, and the theme, Superfine: Tailoring Black Style, which honoured Black menswear, dandyism, and individual expression.
Shah Rukh’s look offered an Indian interpretation of resistance, style and freedom through tailoring.
Speaking on the red carpet, the Bollywood legend told a reporter:
“My designer, Sabyasachi, he thought of it, and thought of it as an expression of freedom and trying to be resolute and resilient against things that can oppress you.”
When asked about his familiarity with the event’s themes, Shah Rukh added:
“Honestly, no, but I got to know now. So the last 20 days, I got to understand what it was.
“And being an actor, I thought it was very interesting how the resolve to change things without oppression or anger, but have exuberance of art in it.
“So, yeah, that was marvellous.”
Photos and videos of Shah Rukh Khan’s Met Gala moment quickly went viral.
Fans across social media praised his dignified presence and global stature.
But one particular clip has sparked online anger.
In the video, shared widely on X, Shah Rukh was seen introducing himself to a red carpet host who appeared not to recognise him.
