As the popular comedy film Housefull completes 16 successful years, the cast is sharing many old secrets.
Actress Lara Dutta recently revealed that her co-star Deepika Padukone was actually suffering from malaria during the shoot.
Despite being seriously unwell with a high fever, she continued to work on the movie set in Italy.
Lara praised the actress for her immense dedication during a very difficult time for her personal physical health.
For her, shooting the film in Italy felt like a wonderful family holiday because the entire cast stayed together.
Producer Sajid Nadiadwala ensured a very smooth environment, which made the entire schedule feel completely stress-free.
Most people were totally unaware that Deepika had fallen seriously ill after contracting malaria during the long shoot.
The young star was completely drained and required medical attention while she continued to film her important scenes.
“And then the next morning, because we had this fixed schedule, there are multiple actors and we were shooting scenes during that time that were quite emotional.
“So she would show up on set and you could see that she was totally drained and wiped out.
“But she was an absolute professional. She got her work done.
“There was absolutely no drop in her performance.”
Lara emphasised that an actor must give another professional credit for performing while they are feeling completely wiped out.
“And as an actor, you have to give another actor credit for that because I know how difficult it is when you’re completely wiped out and something like malaria absolutely wipes you out.
“It’s not like you just have a cold or you just have a fever.”
The actress further described her co-star as someone who is extremely focused and very clear about her work.
She also noted that Deepika is more reserved in nature, rather than being a shy person on the set.
Magic truly happens when actors understand their specific roles and bring their unique craft to the movie set.
Directed by Sajid Khan, the film Housefull featured an incredible ensemble cast, including stars like Akshay Kumar.
