“CEO of fixing what he didn’t break.”
Coldplay frontman Chris Martin surprised fans in Mumbai by addressing Britain’s colonial history during the band’s recent concert.
Amid the grandeur and excitement that Coldplay’s performances are known for, Chris paused to acknowledge the historical grievances tied to his homeland.
Chris said: “It’s amazing to us that you welcome us even though we are from Great Britain.”
His words left leaving many people in the audience stunned.
Chris Martin’s unexpected remarks were seen by some as an indirect apology for colonialism.
Social media quickly buzzed with reactions, with some users labelling the moment “white guilt”.
Meanwhile, others took the opportunity to humorously demand the return of the Koh-i-Noor diamond, which was taken from the Indian subcontinent.
A user demanded: “Ok. Return the Koh-i-Noor to us right now.”
Another said: “Martin brother, next time when you come, bring Koh-i-Noor along.”
One joked: “Bhaiya…wo Koh-i-Noor mil jata tou…”
Many others appreciated the sentiment, viewing it as Chris Martin’s way of addressing generational trauma.

During a performance in the UAE, he called a Pakistani woman on stage.
He then dedicated the song ‘Everglow’ to the people of Pakistan, Gaza, the West Bank, and Iran, earning praise for his inclusivity.
Meanwhile, Pakistani fans have joined the conversation, urging Coldplay to bring their concerts to Pakistan.
They humorously emphasised their shared history as victims of colonisation.
A fan requested: “Since we were also victims of the British Raj, we deserve a free concert as well.
“Jokes aside, when will Coldplay have a concert in Karachi?”
