In response to overwhelming fan demand, Coldplay has announced an additional concert date in India.
This will be their fourth Indian show for their Music of the Spheres World Tour.
The newly added show will take place on January 25, 2025, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Ticket sales for this highly anticipated event will begin on November 16 at 12 pm (IST) through the ticketing platform BookMyShow.
This announcement follows the earlier confirmation of three shows in Mumbai.
They are scheduled for January 18, 19, and 21, 2025, at the DY Patil Sports Stadium.
The tour is set to be Coldplay’s largest-ever stadium performance in India, with the capacity to host approximately 100,000 fans.
Anil Makhija, COO of Live Entertainment at BookMyShow, expressed excitement about securing India’s largest venue to meet the high demand for tickets.
He said: “Bringing another show to life took immense effort from our teams and partners alike, and we are thrilled for the chance to make this happen for Coldplay’s fans.”
Fans were ecstatic, expressing their excitement for another chance to secure the tickets to their favourite band.
A user said: “Booked a room in Ahmedabad a few months ago in anticipation for this before the rates hiked. Proudest moment of my life.”
Another wrote: “I’m already in the queue – 999999999999 position.”
The announcement comes amid an ongoing investigation by the Enforcement Directorate into reports of unauthorised ticket sales for Coldplay’s concerts.
The same happened with the ticket sales for Diljit Dosanjh’s concerts.
Tickets for the initial shows in Mumbai sold out within minutes, leaving many fans disappointed.
The demand was so high that virtual queues reportedly reached millions, leading to significant frustration among hopeful attendees.
In light of these, scalpers have been accused of hoarding tickets and attempting to resell them at inflated prices, prompting intervention from authorities.
The Maharashtra police’s cyber wing issued a notice to BookMyShow, calling for strict measures to prevent ticket scalping.
This included the implementation of name-based ticket sales for the upcoming Coldplay concerts.
To combat these challenges, BookMyShow is introducing a virtual queue system designed to create a fairer ticketing process for all fans.
This aims to ensure that genuine attendees have the opportunity to secure their tickets.
The Music of the Spheres World Tour promises to deliver one of Coldplay’s most spectacular shows to date.
