Birmingham city centre will host a Unity Rally on November 23, 2025, at 5 pm in St Martin’s Square beside the Christmas Tree.

The event aims to send a clear message that the city stands united against racism, misogyny, and all forms of hate.

Women Against the Far Right Birmingham and Black Country, and Stand Up to Racism Birmingham are organising the rally.

Both groups want communities to stand together at a time of increasing tension.

Organisers say the event responds to a political climate where attempts to divide communities are becoming more visible.

The evening will begin with a Procession of Light marking the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and Girls.

The moment is intended as a call for change rather than a symbolic gesture alone.

Community groups, trade unions and campaigners from across the West Midlands will come together for the Unity Rally.

Speakers, poets, and dancers will contribute throughout the evening.

The rally celebrates inclusion and collective strength.

Women, men, and non-binary people, people of all faiths and none, and communities from every background are invited to attend.

Participants are being encouraged to bring lanterns, lights, and banners to illuminate Birmingham with compassion and unity.

Tracy Abrahams, from Women Against the Far Right Birmingham and Black Country, said:

“This rally honours survivors, remembers those lost, and shines a light on the urgent need for unity, justice, and change.”

“At a time when the far right is trying to divide us, Birmingham is coming together in solidarity with all those affected by gender-based, racially motivated, and identity-based violence. Together we rise.”

Women Against the Far Right Birmingham and Black Country describes itself as a regional collective of women “tired of the far right treating us as political pawns in a narrative we never consented to”.

Nationally, Women Against the Far Right is a UK-wide campaign uniting women’s rights, anti-racist and community groups to challenge the far right’s attempts to exploit concerns about women’s safety to promote racism and anti-immigrant sentiment.

WAtFR is affiliated with the anti-racism organisation Stand Up To Racism.

The rally takes place on November 23, 2025, at 5 pm in St Martin’s Square, with attendees encouraged to bring lights, lanterns, and banners to illuminate the event with a clear message of solidarity.
