"It is important to show Salman in a different light"
The much-awaited Bharat is slated for a June 5, 2019, release and the official trailer has finally been released, grabbing the attention of fans.
Salman Khan travels through 71 years of Indian history, beginning in 1947 as the title character Bharat. Ali Abbas Zafar’s film showcases Khan sporting five different looks as time passes.
The trailer has gone viral and fans are in awe of the work done on his looks. The three-minute trailer highlights several snippets from Bharat’s colourful life and his adventures framed against key moments from India’s history.
It shows a young Bharat as a motorcycle stuntman alongside Disha Patani to a coal miner with Sunil Grover.
He later becomes the captain of a ship and along his journey, he meets the woman he loves, played by Katrina Kaif.
Katrina’s appearance in the trailer has left a positive impact on fans. Many are saying Bharat is her best work and are rooting for her.
The film will also see Salman as a middle-aged man before becoming an old man complete with grey hair and beard.
The trailer also hints at dark times for Bharat and his family as well as a childhood highlighted by India’s Partition in 1947.
Bharat is an official remake of 2014 South Korean film Ode to My Father, which explores the country’s history through one man’s experiences.
Zafar has adapted the original screenplay and said that Salman will go on a different route. He said:
“It is important to show Salman in a different light as Indian cinema is changing and leaving a mark with every film is important.”
Bharat will mark Salman’s third project with Zafar after Sultan (2016) and Tiger Zinda Hai (2017).
Katrina also reunites with Zafar after she also starred in Tiger Zinda Hai and Mere Brother Ki Dulhan (2011).
As well as Sunil Grover and Disha Patani, the film also stars Jackie Shroff, Tabu and Sonali Kulkarni among others.
Varun Dhawan is also set to make a cameo appearance in the film after Salman took some photographs of him on set.
The various looks of Salman have been appreciated by many stars from the Hindi film industry, including Shahrukh Khan.
Shahrukh was quick to show his love for the trailer and put out a tweet expressing his feelings.
He posted:
