Best Dressed at IIFA Rocks 2018

Bobby looks undeniably dapper in this textured jacket with a blue pocket square

The stars of Bollywood have arrived in Bangkok, Thailand for the 19th IIFA Awards 2018.

The extravagant 4-day event welcomes some of the brightest stars to celebrate the best of Indian cinema and entertainment.

With the expectation of high-fashion and glitz at the glamorous event, we can’t resist taking a look at the designer looks of our favourite stars.

Who ranked highest on the style sheet, and who could have made a better effort?

Take a look at our picks for the best-dressed celebrities at IIFA Rocks 2018.

Diana Penty

We adore this white-lace inspired floor-length gown on actress Diana Penty.

The dress itself is effortlessly stunning and fits perfectly on Diana’s toned physique.

The cut-work white effect against the nude is right on trend and is a perfect summer statement.

Penty truly aced the green carpet look with this stunning dress!

Iulia Vantur

Iulia Vantur looks stunning in this floaty strapless gown with floral embroidery.

Giving off an ethereal feel, the light hue of the dress contrasts beautifully with the multicoloured floral patterns that feature around the bodice area and the base of the dress.

On closer inspection, we can see the full details of intricate embossed detailing on the white net of the skirt.

The mix of green, red and orange blends perfectly with the gold thread work.

Keeping her auburn hair in relaxed curls, with minimal accessories, the Race 3 singer looks a vision on the green carpet!

Karan Johar

In recent years, good style has become synonymous with filmmaker Karan Johar.

Not afraid to step into something a little more colourful and vibrant, we love this shocking pink velvet tuxedo blazer.

Matched with an all-white shirt and bow tie, Karan teams his outfit with black suit trousers and dress shoes.

Bonus points are deserved for the Black Panther-inspired diamante brooch which really completes the look.

Bobby Deol

Marking his return to the stage following a considerable spotlight absence, Bobby looks undeniably dapper in this textured jacket with a blue pocket square.

He keeps the rest of his attire simple, with a black open collar and black suit trousers.

Varun Dhawan

The young Varun Dhawan looks extremely dapper in this Indian-style black-tie outfit designed by Kunal Rawal.

The actor wears a monochrome shirt with a window-pane checkered black jacket.

The October star teamed the attire with black trousers and dress shoes.

Kriti Sanon

While this dress from Kriti may not be to everybody’s taste, but we have to admire it for its sheer drama.

The ruffled mermaid-esque bottom of the dress is elegant in its layers of metallic shades.

We are also intrigued by the beaded embroidery that features all along the top of the dress and flows to the bottom.

While it certainly clashes with the bottom half, we adore the fact that Kriti is able to pull off the look so effortlessly.

With her hair sleek and straight, she opts for dangling earrings and a bold plum lip.

Rahul Bose

The suave Rahul Bose brings his A-game to the IIFA Rocks green carpet. This stripped grey three-piece suit is both smart and totally on-trend.

We particularly like how he’s not afraid to mix colours and opt for lighter hues than the standard black. The crisp blue shirt is a great contrast to the grey of the waistcoat, and his silky mint bow tie is the perfect final touch.

Bose proves that mixing colours in a fun and original way can never be a bad thing!

On the other side of the fashion spectrum, some of our favourite Bollywood celebrities failed to impress.

We’re not too keen on Arjun Kapoor’s dressed down look on the IIFA Green Carpet.

While it may be that he is saving his best look for the Awards ceremony, we wished he could have made a better effort at the musical evening.

His shirt-style kurta features a minimalist black design, matching the black trousers. All in all, the look is relatively underwhelming, and we hope to see a better look at the Awards ceremony.

Also, Konkona Sen Sharma’s navy ensemble looked slightly unflattering and not season appropriate.

Perhaps more suited for a winter-time function, we feel the deeper hue worked against her.

Vikram Phadnis for Myntra

In addition to the non-stop music and entertainment of IIFA Rocks, guests were presented with an incredible fashion show fronted by India’s most beautiful and stylish stars.

Walking the ramp for a Vikram Phadnis, both Radhika Apte and Diana Penty looked exquisite in their couture gowns.

The black and metallic grey collection from Phadnis saw full metallic skirts with ruffled tops and sharp silhouettes.

In particular, Radhika looked elegant in the diagonal style cut of the blouse. The black fabric was covered in silver metal work, while the red of the gown layered different fabric is in the same black.

Diana’s lehenga style gown also mixes various textures and fabrics for an East-meets-West futuristic look.

Shantanu & Nikhil: S&N March, The India Story

Another highlight of IIFA Rocks was the presence of the eternally youthful Anil Kapoor on the fashion ramp.

Donning a deconstructed sherwani and kurta by Shantanu & Nikhil, the actor looked incredibly dapper.

Joining him was a stunning Dia Mirza in a beautiful ivory coloured lehenga dress complete with rock-inspired silver accessories.

We really love her metallic, tribal-style belt which contrasts beautifully with the light tones of the dress.

It also holds Dia’s dupatta perfectly in place around her shoulders, adding even more drama to the outfit as it cascades downwards towards the base of the skirt.

All in all, IIFA Rocks proved to be a magnificent opener for a weekend of glitz, glamour and non-stop entertainment.

We look forward to seeing more stylish Bollywood celebs walk the green carpet for the official IIFA Awards ceremony on 24th June 2018.
