The couple has been in a relationship for more than three years and they are now reportedly ready to take their relationship to the next level.
It has been reported that they will marry in December 2022 as the couple want to tie the knot during the winter.
The report also claimed that preparations have already begun.
It is claimed that it will be a South Indian wedding as Suniel Shetty was born in a Tulu-speaking family in Karnataka. KL Rahul is also from Karnataka.
The reports came to light after the cricketer celebrated his 30th birthday on April 18, 2022.
Athiya had shared a few pictures of the two together to mark the day.
She captioned the post: “Anywhere with you, happy birthday.”
The cricketer replied: “Love you.”
This led to several people in the comments believing that the couple will be getting married towards the end of the year.
The marriage rumours continue to circulate, however, a close friend of the actress stated that there is no truth to the wedding speculation, saying:
“It’s not true! There’s no wedding happening this year.
“Athiya has two projects starting at different intervals this year. One is for the web domain, the other is a theatrical movie.”
“KL Rahul has the World Cup coming up and his schedule is blocked with different tournaments before that.
“With their hands full, where do they have the time to have a wedding this year?”
Athiya Shetty and KL Rahul met each other through mutual friends and their friendship turned into a relationship.
They went Instagram official with their relationship in 2019.
Since then, Athiya has often accompanied KL Rahul in his tournaments.
Meanwhile, KL Rahul was seen by her family’s side at the premiere of Ahan Shetty’s debut film Tadap in December 2021.
