"It’s the hairstyle which has become synonymous with me"
When Nawazuddin Siddiqui unveiled the first look of his upcoming film, Haddi, little could anyone have anticipated the avalanche of reactions it would garner.
Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s first look has stunned fans, with many saying the actor looks unrecognisable after the drastic transformation.
Nawazuddin’s look is not only being appreciated for a gender-defying makeover but also for its uncanny resemblance to an everyday television personality.
Archana Puran Singh found herself to be at the receiving end of comparisons to Nawazuddin’s look.
In the official trailer released on Nawazuddin’s Instagram, the actor can be seen sitting in a diva-esque pose in a shimmery low-cut dress as he bleeds from his right hand while resting his left hand near his face.
A blood-stained weapon can also be seen in the motion poster. Kohl-lined eyes and a bold red lip finish the actor’s look.
The side-parted hair and the posture led many to believe that it was Archana Puran Singh making another entry into films.
Archana Puran Singh had only nice things to say about the comparisons.
Over a WhatsApp text, she replied: “It’s the hairstyle which has become synonymous with me that is causing all these comparisons.
“I’ve used this side-parted look during the early part of Kapil show (The Kapil Sharma Show).”
When asked about how she feels about the comparisons, she said: “All I can say is it’s a huge compliment to be compared to Nawaz in ANY way possible.”
According to a report by Zoom, Nawazuddin Siddiqui intended to step out of the box through this role.

The actor commented: “I have portrayed different interesting characters, but Haddi is going to be a unique and special one since I will be sporting a never-seen-before look, and it will also help me to push the envelope as an actor.”
Talking about the film, the director Sharma said in a statement:
“It’s going to be a double whammy, as Haddi gives me the opportunity to collaborate with Nawazuddin.”
“Our team hopes the motion poster piques the audience’s interest as we are excited to dive deep into a new world. Can’t wait to start filming.”
Nawazuddin Siddiqui, who gained widespread praise for embodying Saadat Hasan Manto in the 2018 Manto and for his role in Netflix’s Sacred Games, is all set to begin filming Haddi.
The film is scheduled to be released in 2023.
