Archana Puran Singh has reacted to jokes about her potential replacement on The Kapil Sharma Show.

The veteran Indian television actress has been a permanent fixture of the comedy chat show since 2017.

Her predecessor was former Indian cricketer turned politician, Navjot Singh Sidhu, who was there from the first season of the television programme which launched on Sony Entertainment Television (SET) in 2016.

However, Sidhu later quit The Kapil Sharma Show to focus on his controversial political career, most recently as Congress Chief, a role which he may not stay in for much longer.

This has sparked the replacement rumours and outpouring of hilarious memes which Singh herself shared a few of on her Instagram with the caption: “I meme myself.”

The caption was followed by several crying laughing emojis.

Kapil Sharma and the rest of the cast have also previously joked about the possibility of Sidhu’s return posing a threat to the actress, something which she has addressed:

“Kapil’s show writers come up with all kinds of jokes and I can’t help but laugh at them because they are funny.

“It is a task to come up with gags everyday and keep the show running for the last 10 years.”

On a more serious note, she added:

“If Sidhu would seriously re-enter the show in my place, I will have many other things to do, which I have refused in the past few months.

“Since I am shooting for two days a week for the show, I can’t take up any assignment, which is out of Mumbai or India.

“In the past few months, I got several opportunities to shoot in London and other foreign countries but I had to say no because of my commitment to the show.”

Singh also dismissed the claims of those who say she does not do much in the show, adding:

“But all those who feel I don’t have anything to do in the show should come on the sets to see how it is not easy to sit 6-7 hours in a particular position, facing the stage.

“I have to constantly sit at an angle for 4-7 hours on that sofa and face the stage, listen to every joke that’s cracked and then react to it.”

Also featuring Kiku Sharda, Bharti Singh and Krushna Abhishek, The Kapil Sharma Show airs every weekend.
