"We welcomed our baby boy Akaay."
Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli have welcomed their second child – a baby boy.
The couple are also parents to a daughter named Vamika, who was born on January 11, 2021.
Their son is named Akaay and was born on February 15, 2024.
In a heartwarming post on Instagram, Virat wrote:
“With abundant happiness and our hearts full of love, we are pleased to inform everyone that on 15th February, we welcomed our baby boy Akaay and Vamika’s little brother into this world!
“We seek your blessings and good wishes in this beautiful time in our lives.
“We request you to kindly respect our privacy at this time.”
The post was flooded with comments as many congratulated Virat Kohli.

Anushka also shared the same picture on her profile. Congratulatory messages did not elude her either.

“Here’s to the new member of dinner table conversations.”
Another fan said: “Welcome to the world, little one. God bless you all.”
The news of Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma expecting their second child was confirmed by South African cricketer AB De Villiers.
The speculation arose when Virat was notably absent from the first two test matches against England.
Originally part of the squad, he withdrew before the Hyderabad tie.
During a Q&A session with fans, De Villiers was questioned about Virat’s absence.
De Villiers responded: “Let me just see what he said. I just want to at least give you a little bit of love.
“So I wrote to him, ‘Been wanting to check in with you for a while now, biscuits. How are you?’
“He said, ‘Just need to be with my family right now. I am doing well’.
“Yes, his second child is on the way. Yes, it’s family time and things are important to him.
“If you are not true and genuine to yourself, you lose track of what you are here for.
“I think most people’s priority is family. You can’t judge Virat for that.”
An official statement addressed Virat’s absence as well. It urged people to respect his privacy:
“The BCCI requests the media and fans to respect Virat Kohli’s privacy during this time and refrain from speculating on the nature of his personal reasons.
“The focus should remain on supporting the Indian cricket team as they embark on the upcoming challenges in the Test series.”
Virat and Anushka married in Italy in 2017 and have since been an inspiration for millions of couples.
This is excellent news for Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli as they expand their family.
