"Yes, his second child is on the way."
Virat Kohli is expecting his second child with his wife and celebrated Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma.
South African cricketer AB de Villiers confirmed this news and cited it as the reason for Virat missing the first two test matches against England.
Virat was originally part of the squad, but shortly withdrew himself before the Hyderabad tie for personal reasons.
De Villiers revealed the news via a Q&A session on his official YouTube channel when a fan questioned him about Virat’s absence.
In response, De Villiers said: “All I know is he is fine.
“He is spending a bit of time with his family, that is the reason he is missing the first two Test matches.
“I am not going to confirm anything else. I cannot wait to see him back. He is fine, he is doing well.”
However, a text message sent to De Villiers from Virat Kohli seemed to reveal the truth.
De Villiers continued to state: “Let me just see what he said. I just want to at least give you a little bit of love.”
“So I wrote to him, ‘Been wanting to check in with you for a while now, biscuits. How are you?’
“He said, ‘Just need to be with my family right now. I am doing well’.
“Yes, his second child is on the way. Yes, it’s family time and things are important to him.
“If you are not true and genuine to yourself, you lose track of what you are here for.
“I think most people’s priority is family. You can’t judge Virat for that.”

Emphasising Virat’s withdrawal from the test games, an official statement read:
“Virat has spoken to Captain Rohit Sharma, the team management and the selectors and has emphasised that while representing the country has always been his top priority, certain personal situations demand his presence and undivided attention.
“The BCCI requests the media and fans to respect Virat Kohli’s privacy during this time and refrain from speculating on the nature of his personal reasons.
“The focus should remain on supporting the Indian cricket team as they embark on the upcoming challenges in the Test series.”
Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma married in a lavish ceremony in Italy in 2017.
The couple welcomed a baby girl on January 11, 2021.
For a while, it was rumoured that the pair are expecting a second child.
It certainly is very good news that the rumours are confirmed.
Meanwhile, in November 2023, Virat Kohli equalled Sachin Tendulkar’s record with his 49th ODI ton in the ICC Men’s World Cup which saw India beat South Africa.
