"Feni has already really messed things up."
Ajay Devgn delivered one of the sharpest moments on The Great Indian Kapil Show during a promotional appearance for Drishyam: The Conclusion.
What began as a playful exchange about Devgn’s Goa-centric filmography quickly turned into a pointed personal remark that left the audience roaring.
Kapil Sharma had been teasing Devgn about the number of his films set or shot in Goa, linking the trend to feni and cheap pomfret.
He asked the actor: “Most of Ajay Devgn’s films- Golmaal, Singham, Drishyam, they all have been shot in Goa.
“In fact, the trailer of Drishyam: The Conclusion was released in Goa.
“So, a few people have this question; it’s not my question.
“‘Do you really find Goa beautiful, or do you believe that you don’t get better feni anywhere else or the pomfret is cheaper there? What is the reason?'”
Devgn replied calmly: “Goa is very relaxing, and I don’t drink feni.”
When Kapil suggested the actor could at least get feni for someone else, Devgn seized the moment and fired back.
He said: “Remember, Feni has already really messed things up in your life.”
The audience erupted as Kapil quickly attempted to clarify, saying, “I don’t drink feni,” before turning to Archana Puran Singh for backup.
Archana added her own jab, saying: “You’ll drink anything that you get for free.”
Devgn’s remark was a reference to a well-documented phase in Kapil’s own life that the comedian has spoken about publicly.
In his 2022 stand-up special I’m Not Done Yet, Kapil had spoken about excessive drinking and how it led him to post impulsive tweets.
The tweets included one directed at Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Kapil had joked about getting drunk before tweeting.
One of the tweets read: “ARE THESE YOUR GOOD DAYS? NARENDRA MODI.”
Kapil continued the Goa banter after recovering, noting that Devgn was lucky to be paid for visiting a destination that drains ordinary tourists of their savings.
He also joked that while Goa is celebrated for its beaches and forts, Drishyam had done more for the state by making its pav bhaji internationally famous.
Devgn appeared on the show alongside co-stars Shriya Saran, Jaideep Ahlawat, Ishita Dutta and Mrunal Jadhav to promote the film.
The episode also marked the opening of Season 5 of The Great Indian Kapil Show, setting a high bar for the rest of the season with its laughs.
Drishyam: The Conclusion is scheduled to release on Netflix on October 2, 2026, bringing the beloved franchise to its final and long-awaited chapter.
