“I’m excited for everyone to see how hilarious she is."
Simone Ashley will next be seen in Peaked and audiences will see a “different side” to her, according to co-writer and director Molly Gordon.
Molly, who also stars in the film, believes the British actress will showcase her comedic talents in the movie, which features an ensemble cast of in-demand stars.
Peaked features an ensemble cast of in-demand stars including Heated Rivalry breakout Connor Storrie, Sex Education star Emma Mackey and pop singer Dua Lipa.
Teasing what fans can expect from Simone, Molly told ELLE that they will see a “different side” to the Bridgerton actress.
She said: “I’m excited for everyone to see how hilarious she is.
“She’s also a ridiculously hard worker. We had some really long nights, and we were shooting outside in New Jersey during a very cold March.
“And she was just so game the whole time, so positive, and brought it take after take.”
Connor Storrie also praised Simone Ashley’s approach to comedy, recalling how she made one particular scene “a thousand times funnier” by avoiding the obvious way of delivering a joke.
He explained: “There was this one group scene where Simone had a line at the very end of the monologue that was so silly, and she never said it as a joke.
“Anyone else would have tried to play up the joke, but she said it so earnestly and differently every time that it made it a thousand times funnier.”
Simone also reflected on working alongside a cast filled with actors around her age, saying the experience reminded her of Sex Education.
She added:
“That was one of the best experiences ever – like Sex Education, but on another level.”
Simone also praised Dua Lipa, who makes her acting debut in the upcoming comedy:
“Dua’s such a pro – she worked so hard, and just took it in and had so much fun with us all. We were all so excited to have her there.”
Peaked follows two friends who were once considered popular in high school. They try to relive their popularity at their 10-year school reunion.
Peaked currently does not have a release date.
