"The film is all ready to roll out in January."
It is reported that Aamir Khan will make his hotly anticipated screen return.
Bollywood’s ‘Mr Perfectionist’ has been signed in the lead role in Rajkumar Santoshi’s next project.
The new film is rumoured to be scheduled for release during Christmas 2024.
Rajkumar Santoshi and Aamir Khan previously collaborated on Andaz Apna Apna (1994). The classic film has a cult following and is regarded as one of Bollywood’s most-loved comedies.
After the release of Laal Singh Chaddha (2022), Aamir shocked fans when he announced he was taking a break from films. This was so he could spend more time with his family.
Since then, Aamir has frequently been quizzed on what his plans are.
Aamir and Rajkumar have apparently closed in on a script, which will be produced by Aamir himself. A source said:
“Aamir Khan and Rajkumar Santoshi have been discussing a subject for a while now and things have finally fallen into place.
“Aamir has loved what’s developed by Santoshi and has been sitting with him to work on all the aspects over the last few months.”
The source added that the film is set to go on floors in January 2024:
“Aamir and Rajkumar Santoshi are all set to bring their entertainer during the Christmas 2024 weekend.
“The prep work is going on in full swing and the film is all ready to roll out in January.”
At a 2023 press event, Aamir was asked when he would go back to acting. Aamir replied:
“Since you guys must be curious, I’ll give you a quick answer.
“I haven’t decided on any film right now. I want to spend time with family at the moment.
“When I am emotionally ready to do a film, I will definitely do it.”
While this may be excellent news for fans, it does present a potentially curious Bollywood clash.
Akshay Kumar’s Welcome to the Jungle is also up for release during Christmas 2024.
The ensemble cast also includes Sanjay Dutt, Arshad Warsi, Jacqueline Fernandez, Disha Patani and Suniel Shetty.
This is not the first time Akshay has clashed with Aamir Khan at the box office.
Akshay’s Raksha Bandhan locked horns with Laal Singh Chaddha in 2022.
Unfortunately, Laal Singh Chaddha was a box office disaster in India. Many criticised the screenplay, story and Aamir’s performance.
Fans compared Aamir’s portrayal of Laal to his performances in Dhoom 3 (2013) and PK (2014).
In December 2022, Aamir was seen in a cameo appearance in Salaam Venky.
The film featured Kajol (Kolavennu Sujata Krishnan) and Vishal Jethwa (Kolavennu Venkatesh “Venky” Prasad Krishnan). Aamir played an illusory figure of Sujata’s imagination.
This is an exciting turn of events for Aamir Khan fans. Many of them have been aching to see the star onscreen again.
