"We both want to keep it very basic."
On July 5, 2026, Aamir Khan married the businesswoman Gauri Spratt in a private ceremony.
Originally from Bengaluru, Gauri also has a son from a previous marriage.
She tied the knot with the Bollywood superstar at their residence in Mumbai. Only close friends and family were present.
These included Ashutosh Gowariker, who directed Aamir in Baazi (1995) and Lagaan (2001).
Vir Das and Raj Thackeray were also in attendance.
Prior to the wedding, Aamir said: “It will be a very simple registered marriage at home, with just both the families and really close friends.
“We both want to keep it very basic.”
Aamir Khan first publicly revealed his relationship with Gauri in 2025. He had said:
“Gauri and I met 25 years ago and now, we are partners.
“We are very serious and committed to each other. We have been together for a year and a half.
“I don’t know if marriage suits me at the age of 60.
“I am very fortunate to have such great relationships with my ex-wives.”
On another occasion, he explained: “Gauri and I met by mistake and we connected and we became friends, and love happened.”
A post on Instagram revealed Aamir and Gauri signing a document. Aamir looked dapper in a cream suit.
The couple were surrounded by their close ones as they marked a new chapter together.
The couple will allegedly be hosting a reception in the near future, with Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan expected to attend.
The veteran actress, Raakhee Gulzar, previously defended Aamir when he faced criticism for marrying at the age of 61.
She said: “What is wrong with marrying at 60?
“Robert De Niro has been married twice and is now in a relationship, with whom he shares a daughter born in 2023.
“They had a child when he was more than 80 years old. Happiness in a marriage is not about age.
“I got married when Gulzar was almost 40.
“I am not in touch with the goings-on in the film industry, nor have I worked with Aamir Khan.
“But I do know he is a very sincere person.
“And I love the way he has maintained his friendship with his two wives even after the marriage.
“It says a lot about him.”
Aamir married his first wife, Reena Dutta, in 1986. They had two children together – Junaid Khan and Ira Khan.
After he and Reena divorced in 2002, Aamir married Kiran Rao in 2005.
They have a son together, Azaad Rao Khan, through surrogacy.
Kiran and Aamir announced their divorce in 2021.
Meanwhile, on the work front, Aamir Khan is currently gearing up for Batwara 1947, which he has produced.
Directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, the film stars Sunny Deol, Preity G Zinta, Shabana Azmi, and Karan Deol.
The film is scheduled to be released on August 14, 2026.
As for acting, he is reportedly set to reunite with Ashutosh Gowariker for a film titled Lalkaar.
The film is apparently a sports biopic on the cricketer Lala Amarnath.
