Aditya Chopra is the director of Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (DDLJ), a Bollywood classic that everyone will love.
The film features the iconic Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol, alongside legendary actors, Amrish Puri and Anupam Kher.
The story follows Raj Malhotra (Shah Rukh) and Simran Singh (Kajol) meeting on a trip in Europe.
Following their adventures, the two realise that they are in love with each other.

Helmed by director Nikkhil Advani, Kal Ho Naa Ho (KHNH), is an ideal romantic musical.

When introverted and depressed Naina Catherine Kapur (Preity) meets Aman Mathur (Shah Rukh), her life changes forever.

Jab We Met (2007)
Jab We Met is a golden film directed by the creative Imtiaz Ali.
The main cast includes Shahid Kapoor, playing the quiet Aditya Kashyap/Kumar and Kareena Kapoor, portraying the loud and energetic Geet Kaur Dhillon/ Geet Aditya Kashyap.
When Aditya is pulled into Geet’s crazy life after attempting to escape his own depressing moments, he falls in love.

Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na (2008)
Directed by Abbas Tyrewala, Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na stars the lovable Imran Khan and the elegant Genelia D’Souza.
Jai Singh Rathore (Imran) and Aditi Mahant (Genelia) are best friends, who make the ideal couple, yet they refuse to pursue a romantic relationship.
The pair are convinced they are not in love with, but when they begin dating other people, it seems this is not the case.

Fashion explores the glamourous and corrupt world of modelling through the direction of Madhur Bhandarkar.
Meghna Mathur (Priyanka Chopra Jonas) embarks on a journey to fulfill her dreams of being a supermodel.
However, she soon learns that perhaps the world of fashion is not as glitzy as it seems. The price of success is difficult to pay.
This film is more than just stunning outfits and hairspray.
It shows the secrecy of drug and sex abuse in the modelling industry, and the harmful mental health impact this has.
Fashion also stars Kangana Ranaut who plays Shonali Gujral, along with Mugdha Godse taking on the role of Janet Sequeira.
The film bagged several awards, including ‘Best Actress in a Leading Role’ for Priyanka.

Aisha (2010)
Aisha is an adaptation of the Hollywood chick flick Clueless (1995. Rajshree Ojha is the director of this rom-com drama.
Sonam Kapoor stars as Aisha Kapoor, alongside Amrita Puri who plays Shefali Thakur.
Things begin to go south when Aisha, who is obsessed with matchmaking, takes her hobby too far.
Arjun Burman (Abhay Deol) does not approve of his friend Aisha’s supposed matchmaking qualities.
And so Aisha finds a new target in Shefali to work her magic on.
Aisha puts her friendships in jeopardy in her pursuit to create the perfect pairs.
Times of India gave a critics rating of 4 stars, with a summarisation, mentioning:
“Sweet love, substantial performances, super fun, slick ‘n stylish, Aisha is a-ha stuff.”
For any fans who want a bit of humour, Aisha is definitely worth watching.
Tanu Weds Manu (2011)
The rom-com king, Anand L Rai, directs Tanu Weds Manu.
Kangana Ranaut (Tanuja ‘Tanu’ R. Trivedi) and R. Madhavan (Manoj ‘Manu’ K. Sharma) are the lead pair of the film.
Manu, while on the hunt for a prospective wife, falls in love with Tanu; the pair are poles apart in personality.
Tanu enlists in Manu’s help to elope with her lover, but does it end well?
Manisha an 18-year-old student from Telford said Tanu Weds Manu made her “laugh, cry and fall in love with Bollywood all over again.”
The film has a good mixture of drama, comedy and romance.
And if you can’t get enough of this movie, there is a sequel, Tanu Weds Manu Returns (2015).
Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara (2011)
Directed by Zoya Akhtar, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara is a beautiful journey of three friends, turning their dreams into a reality.
The trio of Kabir Dewan (Abhay Deol), Imran Qureshi (Farhan Akhtar) and Arjun Saluja (Hrithik Roshan) take a trip to Spain before Kabir’s wedding.
The vacation turns out to be more than just site seeing. It becomes a journey of healing wounds, facing fears and falling in love with life.
Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara is an excellent chick flick, highlighting the importance of ‘Dosti (friendship) and growing up.
Times of India echoes that it “celebrates friendship like never before” and adds:
“And though the film has characters like a possessive girlfriend, a flirtatious friend, an illegitimate father and immense scope for melodrama, it remains subtle and lighthearted throughout.”
Zoya Habib, a 23-year-old nurse from Manchester took inspiration from the film:
“Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara taught me to enjoy life and go for every opportunity.”

Cocktail (2012)
Cocktail is a rom-com direction of Homi Adajania
The film stars Diana Penty (Meera Sahni), Deepika Padukone (Veronica Malayney) and Saif Ali Khan (Gautam Kapoor).
When Veronica invites her boyfriend Gautam and her friend Meera to live with her, an unlikely friendship forms.
But things begin to go down when Gautam falls in love with Meera, as it seems that three becomes a crowd.
As a result, love and friendship are tested in the film.
Giving the film 4 out of 5 stars, Rubina A. Khan gave a big thumbs up to the film in her review for Firstpost:
“Cocktail is a contemporary film that reflects life as it happens all around us…. just as crazy, twisted, beautiful, funny, weird and lonely as anyone’s life can be.
“It’s about easy choices and hard decisions and how life still goes on, despite it all. It’s a cocktail you definitely wanna try!”
As well as acting in Cocktail, Saif Ali Khan is also the producer of the film, along with Dinesh Viijan.
Student Of The Year (2012)
Student Of The Year is yet another amazing hit direction of Karan Johar.
Bollywood’s favourite boys, Varun Dhawan and Sidharth Malhotra star in the film, alongside the cute Alia Bhatt.
When a love triangle forms between the lead trio, tensions arise.
Who will Shanaya Singhania (Alia) pick from Abhimanyu ‘Abhi’ Singh (Sidharth) and Rohan ‘Ro’ Nanda (Varun)? And what chaos will erupt in the process?

Sify Movies felt the movie was made in Karan’s customary fashion:

Jab Tak Hai Jaan (2012)
Directed by the genius Yash Chopra, Jab Tak Hai Hai Jaan was his final masterpiece.
The film has an impressive star cast. This includes the dashing Shah Rukh Khan, the gorgeous Katrina Kaif  Bollywood’s sweetheart Anushka Sharma.
The film explores the dangerous but sweet love story of Samar Anand (Shah Rukh) and Meera Thapar (Katrina)
After the two fall in love in London, Meera abruptly breaks up with Samar, who then decides to leave for India to become a bomb disposal specialist.
During his time in India, Samar meets the adorable Akira Rai (Anushka). Despite having feelings for Samar, Akira decides to reunite him with Meera.
Ayesha Hussain, a 19-year-old student from Birmingham only realised the impact of the film after viewing it.
“Jab Tak Hai Jaan was the movie I didn’t know I needed during my teen years!”
The heartwarming romantic film which focuses on Samar’s journey to true love has the famous song ‘Challa’ sung by Rabbi Shergill.
Queen (2013)
Queen, starring the bubbly Kangana Ranaut in the rom-com directed by Vikas Bahl.
Rani (Kangana) is devasted after her fiance Vijay Rajkujmar Rao abandons her before their wedding.
Subsequently, she decides to go on their honeymoon by herself.
She learns valuable lessons and experiences, discovering her self-identity along the way. This journey of self-discovery is both heartwarming and comedic.
Rani has many popular lines in the movie, with two standing out:
“I taught that robber such a lesson, that he’ll think twice before messing with any Delhi girl.”
“Look at me! I am alone because of him! I’m doing everything alone. Crossing roads alone. Seeing the Eiffel Tower alone. Fighting muggers alone.”
Queen is a superb film, reminding girls of their independence, and to let loose and have fun. Though Desi aunties may not approve of this.
Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (2013)
Yeh Jawaani Hai Dewaani symbolises contemporary Bollywood.
Targeting millennials, this rom-com is directed by Ayan Mukerji of Wake Up Sid (2009) fame.
The film has a star-studded cast, including Ranbir Kapoor (Kabir Thapar) and Deepika Padukone (Naina Talwar).
Playing supporting roles in the film are Aditya Roy Kapur (Avinash ‘Avi Arora), and Kalki Koechlin (Aditi Mehra Khanna).
Meeting on a trekking trip, and Naina falls in love with Kabir but doesn’t tell him. He then leaves for India to pursue his career.
Whilst the pair reunite at a wedding, Kabir remains the career-oriented guy he was before.
Yeh Jawaani Hai Dewaani has been described to have one of the best soundtracks in Bollywood, with hits like ‘Balam Pichkari’ and ‘Batameez Dil’.
Deepika told Bollywood Life how she loved her relatable character and the core reason for it :
“I enjoyed playing my part in Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani.
“I can relate to the character (Naina) I play in this film. I see shades of my real-life personality in this character.”
Well if anyone wants to get a glimpse of the real Deepika, then they should watch this film.
Khoobsurat (2014)
Khoobsurat is a colourful and jolly film directed by Shashank Ghosh.
The film features subcontinental heartthrob Fawad Khan (Yuvraj Vikram Singh Rathore) and the tunning Sonam Kapoor (Milli Chakravarty).
When Milli becomes the physiotherapist for King Shekhar Singh Rathore (Amir Raza Husain), an unlikely pair fall in love, despite their differences.
However, Vikram is engaged to someone else.
Srijana Mitra Das from the Times of Indi shares her thoughts about what makes this film so beautiful:
“For the most part, the delightfully roguish romance between the lead couple tickles everything fun-loving inside you.
“That’s what makes it so khoobsurat.”
This bright film showcases the vibrance of India and is sure to capture the hearts and eyes of its audience.
Befikre (2016)
Directed by Aditya Chopra, Befikre is a rom-com set in the elegant and beautiful lands of France.
Dharam Gulati (Ranveer Singh) and Shyra  Gill (Vaani Kapoor) fall in love, following a one-night stand.
However, the honeymoon phase ends just as quickly as it starts. The pair try to move on but are unable to deny their deep feelings for each other.
They then try to reconcile their love. It seems what the pair believed to be lust, was in fact, love.
Sadia Riaz, a 19-year-old from Birmingham who works in retail expresses that the film was a good reminder to live life to the fullest as she had a pleasurable viewing with her siblings:
“Befikre reminded me to live while I’m young and was the perfect choice for a movie night with my sisters!”
Befikre is for those without worry and who takes each day as it comes.
Most importantly, Befikre is the celebration of carefree love.
Phillauri (2017)
Phillauri is a rom-com fantasy film directed by Anshai Lal.
Suraj Sharma, Anushka Sharma, Mehreen Peerzada and popular Punjabi singer-actor  Diljit Dosanjh have pivotal roles in the film.
Kanan Gill (Suraj) arrives for his engagement with high school sweetheart Anu Gill (Mehreen Kaur Pirzada).
When Kanan is advised to marry a tree first to get rid of his astrological curse, things begin to go awry.
The tree he marries contains the ghost of a woman named Shashi Kumari Gill/Shashi Lal ‘Phillauri’Â (Anushka).
After their unlikely marriage, Shashi takes Kanan as her unlawfully wedded husband.
What will Kanan do? And will Shashi finish her unfinished business?
Aliza Khan, a 19-year-old student from Birmingham states that the film has a unique plot, which even came as a surprise to her.
“Funny, and cute. It has a rare story that you wouldn’t come across anywhere, let alone in Bollywood.”
” I didn’t think I would enjoy it as much as I did, but it proved the be surprisingly good. A must watch for all.”
As a ghost story, Phillauri is a film that will have girls giggling at Kanan’s awful luck.
It will also have everyone on the edge of their seat, especially to see where Shashi’s romance takes her.
Noor (2017)
Noor is a comedy-drama directed by Sunhil Sippy. Sonakshi Sinha plays the lead protagonist Noor Roy Chaudhary.
Noor is a clumsy journalist, who leads quite an ordinary life, with the occasional accident.
However, when she comes across a dramatic story, this all changes. Noor must find out the truth, by any means necessary.
Sonakshi told NDTV she “could relate to the character immediately.”
She added:
“Even though our professions are different, she is a journalist and I am an actor, but our struggles, our insecurities being a girl are the same.”
Noor is a coming-of-age movie for all girls, presenting a relatable struggle of growing pains.
It serves as a reminder that you are not the only one feeling this way.
Veere Di Wedding (2018)
Directed by Shashanka Ghosh, Veere Di Wedding is seen as one of his most successful films.
Kareena Kapoor (Kalindi Puri), Sonam Kapoor (Avni Malhotra), Swara Bhaskar (Sakshi Soni), and Shikha Talsani (Meera Sood Stinson) are the leading ladies of this film.
Veere Di Wedding is a comedy and light-hearted film.
It follows four women in their journey of rediscovering themselves. finding true love after they come to know about Kalindi’s wedding.
When Kalindi breaks off the engagement, the friends take a holiday trip together, which proves to be more than a vacation.
