"I want to make sure I still get out"
Zayn has cancelled all US dates on his upcoming KONNAKOL Tour, along with several UK concerts, following a recent hospital stay for an unspecified illness.
The former One Direction singer shared the update on Instagram, thanking fans for their support and confirming he is recovering at home.
He wrote: “To my fans: Thank you so much for all the support and love you’ve shown me on the album release and more importantly your love, prayers, and well wishes for my health.
“I’ve felt it, and it’s meant the world. I’ve been at home recovering and I’m doing well and will be better and stronger than before.”
Zayn said he had reviewed his touring plans and decided to scale back the number of live dates in the coming months.
He added: “I’ve had to take another look at my schedule for the months ahead and have to reduce the number of shows on the KONNAKOL Tour.
“I want to make sure I still get out and see as many of you as I possibly can.
“I’m really looking forward to playing these shows for you, and I hope to see the rest of you around the world very soon. Big Love, Z.”
Several UK and Mexico dates scheduled for later this month remain listed on his official website.
The announcement comes two weeks after Zayn was admitted to hospital on the same day his new album was released, sparking concern among fans.
At the time, he posted: “To my fans – Thank you to all of you for your love and support now and always. Been a long week and am still unexpectedly recovering.
“Heartbroken that I can’t see you all this week, I wouldn’t be in the place I am today without you guys and am so thankful for your understanding.”
Malik also thanked “all the incredible hospital staff of [doctors], nurses, cardiologists, management, admin and everyone who had helped along the way and continue to”.
The singer had recently completed a seven-night residency in Las Vegas and had originally announced a 31-date world tour for Konnakol, beginning in Manchester on May 12.
That schedule has now been significantly reduced to nine shows.
The revised tour will begin at London’s O2 Arena on May 23 before heading to Manchester, Mexico City, Guadalajara, Monterrey, São Paulo, Buenos Aires, Santiago and finishing in Lima, Peru, in October.
His first US performance had been scheduled for July 19 in Philadelphia, followed by dates in Pittsburgh, Milwaukee, Chicago, Indianapolis, Nashville, Phoenix, San Diego and San Francisco.
Alongside concerns over his health, reports also emerged that Zayn’s planned Netflix road-trip docuseries with Louis Tomlinson had been axed due to a bust-up.
Nicola Marsh, the show’s director, appeared to reference the reports by reposting the The Sun’s front cover on Instagram with the comment: “And there goes the last year of work.”
