The inaugural National Creators Award were presented on March 8, 2024, at the Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi.
The event aims to honour excellence and influence across various fields such as storytelling, environmental sustainability, education and gaming.
It serves as a platform to utilise creativity for promoting positive transformations.
The selection process for the National Creators Award commenced with the government opening a nomination window on its Innovate India website from February 10 to February 29, 2024.
Over 200 creators were nominated across several categories.
During the voting phase, approximately one million votes were cast.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi presented the awards and at the event, he said:
“You can reach out to any corner of the world in a fraction of a second.
“You are brand ambassadors of the vocal for local innovation.
“From the data revolution to cheap mobile phones, they have created a new world for content creators.
“The credit for this award show goes to the youth of this country and every digital content creator.”
The PM also lauded their efforts in bringing about positive social change and commended their dedication to their respective fields.
The ceremony saw the presence of prominent figures from the digital content creation space, highlighting the significance of their contributions to Indian society.
Among the winners were Gaurav Chaudhary, who won ‘Best Creator in Tech’.
Known as Technical Guruji, he is known for his technology reviews and insights on YouTube.
On Instagram, he wrote: “Honoured to receive the Best Tech Creator Award from the Honourable Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi Ji at the National Creators Award ceremony.
“Grateful for the recognition and excited to continue pushing boundaries in the world of technology!”
“Humbled and proud.”
Kabita Singh, who runs the YouTube channel Kabita’s Kitchen, won ‘Best Creator in Food Category’.
Known for her recipe tutorials, Kabita has over 13.7 million subscribers.
