"She has continually used her visibility to advocate for others"
Narinder Kaur has received a Celebrity Of The Year nomination at the National Diversity Awards after becoming one of Britain’s most outspoken voices against racism, the far right and violence against women and girls.
The broadcaster first rose to fame on Big Brother in 2001.
In recent years, she has reinvented herself as a political commentator and activist. She regularly appears as a panellist on Good Morning Britain and Jeremy Vine, while also contributing to Radio 2, LBC and Virgin Radio.
Narinder has also written columns for The Times, Glamour and The Mirror.
Earlier in 2026, Kaur addressed UK Parliament about healthcare inequalities facing South Asian women.
She was also invited to 10 Downing Street to celebrate Vaisakhi alongside politicians, activists and community leaders.
At the time, she wrote on X: “I’ve just left Number 10 Downing Street’s Vaisakhi do. Keir Starmer was there, he did a big speech, really good.
“He looked well. I thought he was going to look tired, stressed, he looked well rested.
“He did a good speech to the Sikh community, thanking us for our contributions to British society. He talked a lot about not letting others divide our communities, which I really liked to hear.”
The National Diversity Awards, now celebrating its 15th year, honours individuals, community organisations and celebrities using their platforms to drive positive change across the UK.
The awards are backed by sponsors including HSBC, Airbus, Kantar and BT Group.
The Celebrity Of The Year category recognises public figures championing diversity, inclusion and social impact. Other nominees include Trevor Nelson, Bradley Riches and Ella Morgan.

In 2025, Danny Beard won the award after appearing on RuPaul’s Drag Race UK and Celebrity Big Brother.
One nomination praised Narinder for using her platform “not simply for fame, but to champion social justice, challenge inequality and give a voice to issues that are too often ignored”.
Another said:
“She has evolved into one of the UK’s most outspoken voices on racism, violence against women and girls, online abuse and representation.”
A third added: “What makes Narinder truly deserving of this award is her resilience, authenticity and courage.
“She has continually used her visibility to advocate for others and hold institutions to account.”
