“I’ve just left Number 10 Downing Street’s Vaisakhi do."

Narinder Kaur has expressed pride after attending a glittering Vaisakhi celebration at 10 Downing Street, where Prime Minister Keir Starmer paid tribute to the Sikh community’s contributions to British society.

The prestigious event recognised Vaisakhi, one of the most significant dates in the Sikh calendar, and came amid rising concern over racially motivated attacks targeting Sikhs across Britain.

Narinder was among the guests invited to the gathering.

Taking to X after the celebration, Narinder shared a candid video with followers, revealing she had just left Number 10 after what she described as a “very good do”.

She said: “I’ve just left Number 10 Downing Street’s Vaisakhi do. Keir Starmer was there, he did a big speech, really good.

“He looked well. I thought he was going to look tired, stressed, he looked well rested.

“He did a good speech to the Sikh community, thanking us for our contributions to British society. He talked a lot about not letting others divide our communities, which I really liked to hear.”

The Prime Minister’s message of unity arrives amid growing concern over attacks targeting Sikhs in Britain.

In August 2025, videos went viral of two elderly Sikh taxi drivers in Wolverhampton being assaulted. Police treated the incidents as racially aggravated.

West Midlands Police also investigated two high-profile rapes of Sikh women in Oldbury and Walsall, which were racially aggravated.

One report stated a victim was told: “You don’t belong in this country, get out.”

Elsewhere, the Guru Nanak Gurdwara in West Bromwich has been targeted in what has been described as an anti-Sikh hate campaign.

An incident included raw meat being dumped outside the site.

Narinder Kaur added that she was “so excited” to be inside Downing Street, admitting the experience felt surreal.

She said:

“I met lots of other MPs, everyone’s so different when you actually meet them.”

On Instagram, she also shared a photograph outside the iconic black door of Number 10, writing:

“Just your girl at Number 10 Downing Street representing!

“What a wonderful Vaisakhi celebration, with a room full of warm, humble and kind people – have never felt prouder to be Sikh.”

She also paid tribute to Gurpreet Singh Anand, Chair of the managing trustees at Khalsa Jatha, for extending the invitation.
