Yami Gautam experienced an emotional moment as she received her first National Film Award recently.
She won the Best Actress award for her performance in the 2024 film Article 370.
The actor later said there was still much left for her to learn in her journey.
She also shared a heartfelt message for aspiring actors who move to Mumbai every year.
President Droupadi Murmu presented her with the Best Actress in a Leading Role award.
This ceremony took place at the 72nd National Film Awards event held in Kevadia.
The National Film Awards for 2024 were held at Ekta Nagar in Gujarat.
Yami walked up to the stage with a smile before accepting her award graciously.
She greeted everyone present with a traditional namaste before receiving the honour on stage.
Her husband, filmmaker Aditya Dhar, was also present at the ceremony to support her.
He was seen watching the special moment closely from the audience during the event.
After receiving the award from President Murmu, Yami spoke to the media about the honour.
She said: “I’m still trying to soak in this moment.
“It’s, it’s a great matter of pride and honour for any artist. Any film artist who’s worked all their life.”
Yami then shared a special message for people who move to Mumbai chasing acting dreams.
She said: “I say this, I’m sure, on behalf of all of us who have dreams, who come to the city with dreams.
“You don’t know what life has for you.”
She added: “Just keep working hard, keep doing good work, and one day this will happen.”
The actor also spoke about how much more she still feels she needs to learn.
Speaking in Hindi, she said: “Mujhe nahin pata main kahan pahunchi hoon.
“I have yet to learn so much in this journey and do so much more work.”
“Ye apne aap mein hi itna bada samman hai, aur aisi jagah par, jo itni aitihasik jagah hai, bahut hi garv mehsoos hota hai.”
This meant she felt immense pride receiving the honour at such a historic venue.
Article 370 is directed by Aditya Suhas Jambhale and released in the year 2024.
The film falls under the Hindi political action thriller genre and is based on true events.
