In exciting news, the Wimbledon BookFest is set to return as it partners with the prestigious Lahore Literary Festival for a second time.

The event is an inclusive celebration of books and culture and aims to celebrate South Asian voices in autumn 2024.

South Asians include Indian, Pakistani, Sri Lankan, and Bangladeshi creatives.

The 2024 Wimbledon BookFest is headlined by Mishal Hussain. Mishal is an acclaimed broadcaster who will be discussing her new book, Broken Threads: My Family from Empire to Independence.

Baroness Sayeeda Warsi will also shed light on her book, Muslims Don’t Matter. 

The festival will involve thrilling fiction, non-fiction, comedy, and performance.

It will feature novelists including Aliya Ali-Afzal and Samia Mir while the actress and writer Sudha Bhuchar will perform her comedic one-woman show, Evening Conversation.

Subhadra Das and Roma Agrawal will also be seen delivering their entertaining comedy show about history, science, and innovation.

This will be for an original event which will encompass contributors to My Dear Kabul – a courageous glimpse into life under Taliban rule.

Southwest London is known for hosting one of Europe’s largest Korean communities.

Paying tribute to this, the 2024 festival will celebrate Korea’s vibrant food culture.

Su Scott and Seji Hong will also be seen discussing identity, immigration, and how food connects people on a global scale, regardless of their heritage.

Wimbledon BookFest returns to celebrate South Asian Voices - 2The 2024 Wimbledon BookFest will mark the programme’s 17th year. The headline speakers will include Elif Shafak, Richard E Grant, Mary Berry, Caroline Lucas, and many more.

The programme has also introduced ethical pricing initiatives including concessionary rates for low income, tickets priced at £12.50 for those under the age of 25 years, and free tickets for many events for those in specific Merton postcodes.

The 2024 Wimbledon BookFest runs from Thursday, October 17 to Sunday, October 27, 2024.
