Karan and SRK's friendship has had a long history.
Shahrukh Khan and Koffee with Karan go hand-in-hand. The actor has been a regular guest on the talk show and was even on the first episode.
SRK is considered to be one of the few guests of honour on the famous couch and we cannot imagine the show without him, so it is a surprise that we have not seen him at all on the sixth season of Karan Johar’s show.
The last time Shahrukh was on the show was in 2016 when he opened season five with Alia Bhatt to promote their film Dear Zindagi.
There are a number of reasons why SRK did not grace the iconic couch this time, including his recent box office failures and his strained relationship with Karan Johar.
Karan and SRK’s friendship has had a long history, but it seems to have hit a small roadblock.
Karan’s upcoming films have shown his preference towards Akshay Kumar and Salman Khan.
Not only is the filmmaker producing two films of Akshay under his banner but even for his period drama Takht where it has an all-star cast, SRK has not been given a role.
Though the two are not at loggerheads, things between the two are not as smooth as before. Owing to the mixed reviews of Zero, it is another reason as to why Shahrukh has not been a guest on Koffee with Karan 6 as he feels he doesn’t have much to say or add professionally to the talk show.
SRK has been going through a tough phase in his career as a result of his back-to-back flops. He has taken a few decisions to get his career back on track including pulling out of the Rakesh Sharma biopic Saare Jahan Se Acha.
He is prioritising on choosing his next scripts wisely and making sure his stardom and reputation do not become affected after his recent box-office flops.
Shahrukh has even chosen to cut down his public appearances and attending events.
Therefore he has been cautious about restructuring his career and does not want any more controversies.
Hopefully, it is only a minor setback in his career and that it will be a short period before his career gets back on the right path.
Season six of Koffee with Karan has seen the likes of Saif Ali Khan, Ranveer Singh and Kajol on the show.
The season finale is set to feature Priyanka Chopra, Kareena Kapoor Khan and possibly Salman Khan given that his last appearance gained a phenomenal response.
