"where is the hate that everybody is talking about?”

Vivek Oberoi recently had a chance encounter with a Pakistani fan during an interview on the Indian talk show, Sunday Brunch.

While cruising through the streets of Dubai in a Bentley, the actor was met with enthusiastic waves and shouts of admiration.

His fans were sitting in another car, proclaiming their love for him from Pakistan.

The fan had said: “Love you Vivek, from Pakistan.”

Reflecting on the encounter moments later, Vivek shared his thoughts on receiving affection from across the border.

He highlighted the unique experience of being in Dubai, where national boundaries seem to fade away.

Vivek noted that the outpouring of love from the city makes one question the existence of hate.

He said: “When you come to Dubai, you realise, no matter how strongly Indian you are, you come here and you see the way the Pakistanis, Bangladeshis, Nepalis, and Sri Lankans love you, you start to lose the sense of boundaries.”

Vivek, who now resides in Dubai, acknowledged that the city serves as a neutral ground.

Here, Indians and Pakistanis can come together without prejudice according to him.

He emphasised that the love and respect received from fans across the border is overwhelming.

Vivek acknowledged that while some individuals may harbour negative sentiments, the general sentiment is one of affection.

Vivek asked: “The way they love our food, our culture, our films, the way they love us, where is the hate that everybody is talking about?”

This sentiment was further reinforced by a recent moment of cross-border camaraderie between Vivek Oberoi and Pakistani singer Atif Aslam.

During a concert in Manchester, Atif spotted Vivek enthusiastically dancing in the audience and invited him to join in the fun.

Vivek eagerly jumped up and moved closer to the stage, dancing energetically to the crowd’s delight.

The audience erupted in cheers, witnessing the fantastic bond between the two artists.

Even Pakistani actress Saba Qamar was seen standing up from her seat, clapping along with the thrilled fans.

This spontaneous and joyous moment quickly went viral on social media, becoming one of the highlights of the evening.

A user wrote:

“This is the kind of energy we need between our countries.”

“We love each other, but efforts have been made to instil non-existent hate for each other in our hearts.

“Through TV, films and literature, there has been a perpetuation of negativity.”

Another added: “Indian and Pakistanis have the sweetest friendships. The hate that everyone talks about is a false reality.”

One said: “Vivek seems so sweet. No wonder people love him.”

Another commented: “Atif Aslam and Vivek’s interaction in the concert was very heart-warming.”
