The film features Vijay in the role of a college professor
South Indian actor Vijay’s much-awaited movie Master will release on January 13, 2021, in theatres throughout India.
The makers of the film took to social media on December 29, 2020, to announce the release date with a new poster of the film.
The latest poster of Master, featuring Vijay and Vijay Sethupathi, promises a testosterone-filled ride.
In the poster, the actors, with bloodied scars on their faces, are sizing each other up like two professional fighters do before a match begins.
Master is all about the clash of the two actors.

The release date announcement comes days after Vijay met Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami.
The South Indian actor was allegedly looking for the government’s support to release Master in theatres.
Reportedly, Vijay requested the CM to allow the theatres in Tamil Nadu to function with their maximum seating capacity.
At present, Indian theatres are only permitted to operate with 50% of their actual capacity due to Covid-19 safety protocols.
The outcome of Vijay’s meeting with the CM is unclear, as the Tamil Nadu government has not made any announcements.
Master will be the first major pan-Indian release of 2021.
The film features Vijay in the role of a college professor with a violent past and Vijay Sethupathi in the role of the lead antagonist.

Vijay is allegedly determined to release his film in theatres only, despite the public sentiment regarding theatre viewing being at an all-time low.
The film’s producer Xavier Britto of XB Film Creators stated:
“Though we have an offer from a reputed OTT service provider, we prefer the theatrical release.
“It is the need of the hour that the industry survives the ongoing crisis.
“We also request the theatre owners to stand with us and provide their support for reviving the Tamil Film Industry.”
Indian theatres have been badly hit by the pandemic with no new releases and a poor response to movies being played at present.
Master is written and directed by renowned Tamil film director Lokesh Kanagaraj.
The film boasts of an all-star cast including Vijay, Vijay Sethupathi, Malavika Mohanan and Arjun Das among others.
South Indian cinema fans took to Twitter to announce their excitement for Master’s upcoming release.
