Hanufa finds a steadfast ally in Manik Majhi
After much anticipation, the film Beeldakini is finally set for its nationwide release on January 24, 2025.
The release was announced two years after the production of the film wrapped up.
It is based on the acclaimed novel by Nuruddin Jahangir.
Directed by Fazlul Tuhin, the film explores themes of female resilience and the transformative power of motherhood.
The story revolves around Hanufa, portrayed by Indian actress Parno Mittra in her second Bangladeshi film after Doob.
Hanufa faces harrowing challenges after her husband is wrongfully imprisoned by a local chairman, who later assaults her.
Ostracised by her community when she becomes pregnant, Hanufa finds a steadfast ally in Manik Majhi (Mosharraf Karim).
Manik, the son of a Baul singer murdered by extremists, grows up under the care of a writer.
Later on, he faces imprisonment himself after his guardian is killed.
In addition to his powerful performance, Mosharraf Karim contributed to the film’s music by lending his voice to one of the songs.
‘Ja Dekhi Tar Shob-e Bhalo’ (Everything I See is Beautiful) was also written and composed by Mosharraf.
The music was directed by Ashraf Babu, adding a unique layer to the film’s emotional depth.
Mosharraf continues to dominate the entertainment scene with his versatility.
Recently, he starred in three back-to-back OTT projects.
He appeared in the ‘Bhaggo Bhalo’ episode of the Dui Shaw series on Chorki and the web film O-Purush on Bongo.
To wrap up 2024, he starred in the thriller Ondhokarer Gaan, released on Binge on December 31.
His fans are now eager to witness his on-screen magic once again in the highly anticipated Beeldakini.
Fazlul Tuhin described Beeldakini as a reflection of the struggles faced by marginalised individuals in an unequal society.
He shared: “Beeldakini captures the suffocating struggles of the people in distress, portraying their suffering and the complex nature of relationships.
“Today, land grabbers still exploit the vulnerable, women are still the victims of abuse, and the cries of helpless people echo all around.
“Yet, despite this uneven world, people dream of love and hope.”
“Beeldakini will confront the audience with these harsh realities.”
Beeldakini received its government grant during the 2019-2020 fiscal year, beginning production in January 2022.
It passed the censor board in January 2023, and will finally debut in January 2025.
