Social media users have slammed Pakistani TV actor Noman Ijaz after he admitted to cheating on his wife frequently on a talk show.
Netizens were even angrier at the fact that he appeared proud of his actions as well as saying that he “cleverly” hides them from his wife.
During an interview on Say it All with Iffat Omar, Noman spoke about love and betrayal before saying that his wife is unaware that he regularly cheats on her.
He also appeared to brag about his illicit relationships by saying that he is “such a great actor”, his wife does not know.
In a clip which has circulated on social media, Noman says:
“I fall in love with those girls who are beautiful from inside and outside.
“I am such an intelligent man and actor that my wife never finds out about these things.
“Husbands of the women I date don’t find out either and the feelings between the women and I are mostly reciprocated.”
The host, Iffat Omar, hears the jaw-dropping admission and shockingly seemed to have liked what he said, responding:
“I need to learn a few things from you.”

However, social media users were not happy with the actor’s comments.
Women’s rights activist and journalist Nayab Gohar Jan said:
“Noman Ijaz has only exposed the thinking espoused by a large majority – men don’t see anything ‘fahaash’ (explicit) or vulgar in cheating on their wives, but as soon as outspoken women talk about their rights, it automatically becomes against cultural values. Mental perversion at its peak.”
Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) politician Sharmila Faruqi commented:
“This is not only crass but very demeaning for his wife, Noman Ijaz is a very senior accomplished actor, this coming from him as something to be proud of is sad.”
As a man, it disgusts me that people like Noman Ijaz exist, who talk about deen in one place and cheat on their spouse on the other.

Social media users were also unhappy with Iffat’s reaction to Noman’s statement.
One user said: “So we are cancelling Noman Ijaz today?
“But for me, I want to cancel Iffat Omar as well for awfully laughing at tales of cheating and dishonesty by a man.”
During the same interview, Noman Ijaz also gave his opinion on the global movement against sexual harassment. His comments ended up angering netizens even more.
He said: “The #MeToo movement is happening just because people are getting detached from religion.”
Twitter users criticised the actor for his hypocrisy, misogyny and for depicting the perverse nature of men in Pakistan.
One person said: “Every other man in our society is Noman Ijaz.
“How can our society let men get away with everything while also managing to put the blame on women for their wrongdoings? If a man manages to cheat, he is intelligent?”
Despite stating that he regularly cheats on his wife, veteran actress Atiqa Odho came to Noman’s defence, claiming that he was joking.
