Canadian Indian TikTok star Megha Thakur ‘suddenly and unexpectedly’ died at the young age of 21 on November 24, 2022.
The death of Megha Thakur who achieved over a million followers across TikTok and Instagram since November 2019, was sadly announced on her Instagram profile by her parents.
Megha promoted body positivity and self-confidence on her platforms and lived in Brampton, Ontario in Canada.
She was also well-known for championing South Asian representation via her platforms.
Her parents are completely devastated by the loss of their daughter.
The Instagram post published by her parents on Tuesday, December 1, 2022, says:
“It is with heavy hearts we announce the light of our life, our kind, caring, and beautiful daughter, Megha Thakur, suddenly and unexpectedly passed away on 24 November 2022 in the early morning hours.
“She loved her fans and would have wanted you to know of her passing. At this time, we request your blessings for Megha.
“Your thoughts and prayers will be with her in her onward journey.

“Megha’s loving parents.”
Megha had many videos which amassed thousands of views and some with millions.
One video which garnered over 10 million views teaches people how to move their butt which was posted after a request was made for such a tutorial.
In the video she says:
“It’s not about how big it is, it’s about how big you think it is, so no telling yourself it’s too flat.
“You’re going to tell yourself that you have a dump truck that’s ready to do some damage and watch the magic unfold!”
Fans responded to the news of her sad demise.
A key follower wrote: “My dearest Megha, this is absolutely devastating. Sending your family so much love. I’m so truly saddened by the loss of a creative genius.”
A follower praising her for her work wrote: “her posts brought so much confidence and light when i was struggling, she was always an angel, and beautiful inside and out. i’m sorry for your loss and may she rest in peace.”
She emphasizes body positivity in her caption writing: “YOU’RE in charge. Remember that ?” Along with the hashtags #SelfLove and #Confidence.
