Dating rumours around Dhanush and Mrunal Thakur have reignited after an Instagram comment sent social media into speculation mode.
The renewed attention comes months after the two were seen hugging at the Son of Sardaar 2 premiere in August.
Many wondered if they were dating, as social media platforms quickly filled with reactions and discussions about their relationship.
Mrunal recently announced her new film Do Deewane Seher Mein with Siddhant Chaturvedi on Instagram.
The announcement video featured the film’s theme music, composed by Anurag Saikia.
Dhanush reacted under the post, writing, “Looks and sounds good”, prompting Mrunal to reply with heart and sunflower emojis.
A screenshot of the interaction circulated, as one person wrote:
“Guys, Dhanush commented on Mrunal’s Instagram post”, alongside crying and heart emojis.
Others also reacted with love emojis.
Some fans began referring to Mrunal as his “girlfriend”, while another called the pair “thalaiva” and “thalaivi” in comment sections.
However, not every response focused on their apparent relationship.
Some fans compared the new film’s music to the soundtrack of Dhanush’s 2012 film 3.
One comment read: “File a copyright claim on this. Just because she’s your GF doesn’t mean they can copy the bgm of your movie.”
Another fan added, “Sounds like Dhanush 3 movie song Kannazhaga.”
Viewers also highlighted these similarities across YouTube and other platforms.

Rumours first began circulating when the pair were seen hugging in August 2025.
But Mrunal Thakur dismissed the claims, saying Dhanush is a friend.
She said at the time: “Dhanush is just a good friend to me.
“I’m aware that a lot of news has been circulating about the two of us being linked together recently.
“I just found it funny when I saw it.”
“Dhanush attended the Son of Sardaar 2 event. No one should misunderstand that. It was Ajay Devgn who invited him.”
On the film front, Dhanush was last seen in Sekhar Kammula’s Kuberaa and Idli Kadai, a film he wrote, directed and produced.
His next release, Aanand L Rai’s Tere Ishk Mein, pairs him with Kriti Sanon. It arrives in cinemas on November 28.
This marks his second collaboration with Aanand after the acclaimed 2013 film Raanjhanaa.
Mrunal’s last appearance was in Son of Sardaar 2. She has several films scheduled, including Do Deewane Seher Mein and Dacoit: A Love Story.
