"The response has been unbelievable"

Bangladeshi film Taandob will get a sequel following its Eid release and subsequent box office success.

Starring Shakib Khan, Taandob debuted to packed theatres and loud cheers across Bangladesh.

The real surprise came when Afran Nisho and Siam Ahmed made unexpected appearances during the film, sending audiences into a frenzy.

The buzz didn’t end there. As the final scene faded, the words “Taandob 2 loading” appeared on screen.

This left no doubt that the saga will continue. Director Raihan Rafi later confirmed the sequel while addressing crowds during cinema visits.

He said: “We’ve left the audience with a message. The response has been unbelievable, not just in cineplexes, but in single screens too.”

Raihan, known for building cinematic hype, called Taandob a landmark in local filmmaking.

“What we’ve done with this film hasn’t happened before in Bangladesh. Maybe not even in West Bengal. It’s time we celebrated that.”

Released across 133 cinemas nationwide, Taandob is drawing sold-out shows day after day.

Star Cineplex tickets remain unavailable for the coming days, while single screens are reporting full houses as well.

The scale of the response has taken even the cast by surprise.

One of the film’s biggest draws is the on-screen reunion of Shakib Khan and Jaya Ahsan after 12 years.

Jaya plays an investigative journalist caught in the storm of political and personal drama.

Since Eid, she has been visiting cinemas nationwide, engaging directly with fans.

Jaya said: “When a film releases during Eid, the festival itself begins to revolve around cinema.

“I’ve been following Taandob since morning on Eid day, audiences are going crazy to watch it.

“This is our film, and it’s a very positive sign for the industry.”

Before its release, Shakib Khan called Taandob the best film of Raihan Rafi’s career.

He added: “Even though I acted in it, I was completely captivated watching it. The entire team gave their heart and soul to this project.”

The supporting cast includes notable names like Sabila Nur, Afzal Hossain, Shahiduzzaman Selim, Rozina Siddique, Ejazul Islam, Suman Anwar, and Mukit Zakaria.

Together, they’ve helped craft a narrative filled with tension, action, and social commentary.

Now, with Taandob 2 officially on the way, the excitement is only growing louder.
