"we’ll reveal what made him the person he is.”

The much-anticipated sequel to Insaaf is officially in the works, as director Sanjoy Somadder confirmed that it will release on Eid-ul-Azha 2026.

Riding on the acclaim and success of the first instalment, the new chapter is set to expand its scope, both in storytelling and scale.

The script development has reportedly already begun.

Sanjoy is again teaming up with writers Nazim Ud Daula and Swarup Dey, the same creative minds behind Insaaf.

The story will pick up from where the first film ended and take the characters into deeper, more ambitious terrain.

One of the most notable developments is the return of the original cast.

Mosharraf Karim, Sariful Razz, Tasnia Farin, and Chanchal Chowdhury are all set to reprise their roles.

However, their character arcs will evolve significantly.

Viewers will finally get to see the backstory of Mosharraf Karim’s character, Dr Shamsher, who had only a limited presence in the previous film.

Sanjoy explained that Insaaf 2 will delve into revolutionary themes as it brings Dr Shamsher into the spotlight.

He disclosed: “In the first part, we only introduced him. Now we’ll reveal what made him the person he is.”

While the original ensemble cast remains intact, the team is also looking to introduce a new female lead.

Her identity is being kept under wraps, but insiders hint that her role will bring a fresh dynamic to the storyline.

With the film’s budget increasing substantially this time, Sanjoy noted that an Eid-ul-Azha release is not just strategic but essential.

He added: “The production house has already approved the plan. Given we have close to a year, I believe we can refine every detail.”

The first Insaaf resonated with audiences thanks to its emotional depth, timely themes, and strong performances.

Expectations for the sequel are already high. Sanjoy remains confident, saying the sequel will not only meet those expectations but exceed them.

He teased that more surprises will be revealed in the coming months as production gears up.

He suggested that the story would unfold over an even larger canvas than before, saying:

“This is just the beginning.”

Fans reacted to the announcement of a sequel with excitement and are looking forward to more updates.

With a tested team, a bigger budget, and deeper character arcs, Insaaf 2 aims to become one of the standout Eid releases of 2026.
