Punjabi singer Rajvir Jawanda has died at the age of 35, days after a serious motorbike accident left him on life support.

The singer passed away at Fortis Hospital in Mohali, where he had been receiving treatment for severe head and spinal injuries. He had been on life support for 11 days before doctors confirmed he had died.

Rajvir, who was travelling on a motorcycle in Himachal Pradesh’s Solan district on September 27, reportedly swerved to avoid cattle that had wandered onto the road.

Police said the crash occurred in the Baddi area as he lost control of the vehicle while on his way to Shimla.

Doctors had described his condition as “extremely critical with minimal brain activity and no significant improvement”. He remained critical from the moment he was admitted to hospital.

Rajvir is survived by his wife and two young children.

Before his death, he had become a beloved figure in the Punjabi music industry.

His hit songs included ‘Tu Dis Painda’, ‘Khush Reha Kar’, ‘Sardaari’, ‘Surname’, ‘Afreen’, ‘Landlord’, ‘Down to Earth’ and ‘Kangani’.

Alongside his music, Rajvir also made his mark in Punjabi cinema, starring in films such as Subedar Joginder Singh, Jind Jaan and Mindo Taseeldarni.

He began his career as a police officer after training with the Punjab Police, before turning to music.

His debut single ‘Munda Like Me’ marked his entry into the industry, and two years later, his song ‘Kali Jawande’ brought him widespread fame.

Tributes have poured in from fans and fellow artists following news of his death.

One fan wrote: “Rajvir Jawanda is no more! May Waheguru bless his soul and give family and friends courage to bear the loss!! What a loss…”

Another added: “Heartfelt condolences on the passing of singer Rajvir Jawanda. The Punjabi music industry has lost a remarkable artist. Rest in Peace.”

A third tribute read:

“My heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and millions of fans.”

One person shared: “So sad, we were waiting for his good health recovery report but we don’t know this happened, we have to hope slowly slowly everything will be better.

“It’s very hard to believe and we lost a diamond son and a beautiful brother.”

Actress Neeru Bajwa paid tribute: “Heartbroken by the tragic loss of such a young and promising life.

“Sending deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of Rajvir Jawanda.

“May you find strength and peace during this unimaginable time. Gone far too soon, but never forgotten.”
