"He was my kind of director but he fell in love with Saima"
Veteran director Syed Noor and acclaimed actress Resham engaged in a public exchange of words, shedding light on their past collaborations and grievances.
It all began when Syed Noor labelled Resham as an “unlucky actor”, igniting a fiery response from Resham.
She swiftly pointed out that it was Syed Noor’s own misfortune.
The actress claimed that he sidelined her in favour of his affection for actress Saima.
She said: “I recently heard Syed Noor saying that Resham was an unfortunate actor because she destroyed herself by working in cheap productions.
“I agree I worked in good and bad movies but who was responsible for that?
“He was my kind of director but he fell in love with Saima ji and started producing everything for her.”
Resham alleged that Syed had underutilised her talents by relegating her to minor roles alongside Saima in his films.
The plot thickened as Syed Noor took to Dr Affan Qaiser’s podcast to air his side of the story.
The director expressed a blend of admiration and disappointment towards Resham.
Despite acknowledging Resham’s intelligence and his role in launching her career, Syed lamented that she did not regard him as her mentor.
He pointed out her allegiance to other figures in the industry.
The director said: “Unfortunately, even though I was the one who introduced her to the film industry, she doesn’t consider me her teacher.
“She only considers Ayub Khawar and a few others as her teachers.
“I have expressed my views; she never acknowledges me.”
Syed Noor also revealed all the efforts he had invested in shaping Resham’s career.
“I have no grievances with her and I’m happy that I introduced, launched, and groomed her, I made efforts for her looks.”
He expressed perplexity over her current professional standing and lack of projects.
While he professed no ill will towards her, he indicated a lack of suitable roles for her in his current projects.
Syed Noor hinted that he would consider casting her if the opportunity arose.
He added: “I don’t know why she isn’t working or why people are not casting her, but I don’t have any character for her at the moment. If I do have a role for her, I will give it to her.”
