“I was emotionally broken at the time"
Actress Sherlyn Chopra has accused Indian filmmaker Sajid Khan of sexual misconduct.
The actress took to Twitter on Tuesday, 19 January 2021, to reveal the shocking allegations.
Recalling the incident that occurred in April 2005, Sherlyn Chopra disclosed that Sajid Khan exposed himself to her:
“When I had met him in April 2005, a few days after my father’s demise, he had taken his penis out of his pants and had asked me to feel it.
“I remember having told him that I know how a penis feels like and that the purpose of my meeting with him was not to feel or rate his penis.”
Sherlyn Chopra continued to reveal that their phone record is evidence of the reported incident. She wrote:
“It’s not an accusation but the disclosure of a fact. Our phone records of the past may be checked regarding the same.
“After flashing his penis, he had not only asked me to touch it & feel it but also asked me if I had ever seen a penis as well endowed as his.”
Sherlyn Chopra went on to add that she was emotionally distraught at the time due to the loss of her father. She explained:
“I was emotionally broken at the time as in early April 2005, I had lost my father, late Dr. Prem Sagar Chopra.
“A few days after my father’s demise, I was called for a meeting by the filmmaker.
“Little did I know that the meeting would be centred around his penis!”
This is not the first time Sajid Khan has been accused of sexual misconduct.
Numerous actresses have alleged that the filmmaker has sexually misbehaved with them.
As a result of this, Sajid Khan was suspended from the Indian Film & Television Directors’ Association for a year.
Sajid Khan was also removed from the production of Housefull 4 (2019). In fact, it was during the shooting of the film that allegations were first made against him. This was also amid the #MeToo movement in 2018.
Addressing why she did not speak up about the incident before, Sherlyn said:
“He has the ‘superstars’ of Bollywood to vouch for his ‘character’. It’s my word against theirs. The Bollywood mafia is a strong syndicate.”
Sherlyn Chopra’s accusations against Sajid Khan comes after the late Jiah Khan’s sister made a similar allegation.
She stated that Sajid Khan sexually harassed Jiah. She claimed that he asked Jiah to strip to her bra.
During the BBC documentary about Jiah Khan titled, Death in Bollywood (2021), she explained:
“When she was asked by Sajid Khan to take her top off, she came home and cried.
“She said, ‘I have a contract, so if I leave, they can sue me and slander my name. if I stay, then I am sexually harassed.’ It was a lose-lose situation.”
