"Do timelines, ek hi kahaani."
The first official teaser of Shehnaaz Gill’s highly anticipated Punjabi film Ikk Kudi has been unveiled.
Sharing the teaser on Instagram, Shehnaaz expressed her excitement, writing:
“Excited to share! Ikk Kudi teaser, I hope you will like it. Even if the world changes, some stories never change.”
The film is set across two different timelines, 1955 and 2025, and appears to explore the struggles of two young women grappling with societal expectations around marriage.
The teaser highlights Shehnaaz Gill in the lead role, narrating how girls’ feelings about weddings remain unchanged over decades.
Their hopes, dreams, and fears continue to define their emotional journeys.
The visuals capture the contrasting sentiments of joy and uncertainty tied to arranged marriages, while also offering glimpses of family drama and comedic moments woven into the storyline.
Made under the banners of Raaya Picturez, Amor Films, and Shehnaaz Gill Productions, Ikk Kudi is produced by Kaushal Joshi, Amarjit Singh Saron, and Shehnaaz herself.
Amarjit Singh Saron serves as both writer and director, while Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions is handling its worldwide release, adding further weight to the project.
Teasing audiences with the line “Do timelines, ek hi kahaani. But happy ending kiski hogi?” the makers promised surprises and urged viewers to prepare for the unexpected.
Earlier this month, the film’s promotional song ‘When and Where’ featuring Shehnaaz and singer-rapper Honey Singh was released, further building anticipation for the big-screen release.
Shehnaaz later confirmed the official release date, writing on Instagram:
“#IkkKudi, har ek ladki ki kahani. Coming to cinemas near you on 19th September. A Dharma Productions Worldwide Release.”
Gill made her acting debut with the Punjabi film Sat Shri Akaal England in 2017, but her career breakthrough came through reality television two years later.
In September 2019, she entered Bigg Boss 13 as a celebrity participant.
During her time in the house, her first single ‘Veham’ was released, followed by tracks like ‘Sidewalk’, ‘Range’ and ‘Ronda Ali Peti’.
The season ended in February 2020, with Shehnaaz finishing as second runner-up.
She went on to appear in Mujhse Shaadi Karoge, although the show was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Gill quickly became a popular face in the Punjabi music scene, featuring in hit music videos such as ‘Bhula Dunga’, ‘Keh Gayi Sorry’, ‘Kurta Pajama’, ‘Waada Hai’, ‘Shona Shona’ and ‘Fly’.
Her return to Punjabi cinema came in 2021 with Honsla Rakh opposite Diljit Dosanjh, which cemented her growing reputation as a versatile actor.
She later transitioned into Bollywood, making her debut in Salman Khan’s Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan in 2023, alongside Pooja Hegde and Daggubati Venkatesh.
The same year, she also featured in Thank You For Coming, produced by Rhea Kapoor and Ekta Kapoor.
The film Ikk Kudi was first announced in November 2024, with photos from the opening day of shooting generating excitement.
It will finally be released worldwide on September 19, 2025.
