"Honestly I will tell you who Pathaan is."

Shah Rukh Khan promoted his upcoming film Pathaan ahead of the FIFA World Cup Final 2022 between Argentina and France on December 18, 2022.

He was joined by English footballer, Wayne Rooney whom the actor jokingly said was the real inspiration behind his iconic embrace pose from Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge.

During the interaction, Wayne asked Shah Rukh about his character:

“Who is Pathaan? Is he similar to anyone in football?”

To this, Shah Rukh replied: “I’m not saying this because you are here.

“Honestly I will tell you who Pathaan is. Pathaan is the guy you call last minute when you are all tied up and you can’t find a solution.

“For me, if you don’t mind me saying, if Pathaan is to be equated to any footballer in the world, before or after or later, it will always be you. You are the tough guy.”

Shah Rukh and Wayne also put their foot down on the stage and struck the iconic pose of the actor from DDLJ.

Soon after the photo was posted on Twitter, fans and netizens flooded the comment section.

A user wrote: “King of the world.”

Various others dropped fire emoticons in the comment section.

On December 17, Shah Rukh Khan held a ‘Ask Me Anything’ session with fans on Twitter and he replied to several questions about his work, family, and more.

One of his fans asked him: “Who are you supporting in World Cup final tomorrow #AskSRK.”

The Pathaan actor replied: “Arre yaar the heart says Messi no??

“But Mbappe is a treat to watch also (Heart says Messi, but Mbappe is a treat to watch).”

Further, Deepika Padukone was also in Qatar to unveil the winner’s trophy.

Meanwhile, after Madhya Pradesh minister Narottam Mishra, the state legislative assembly’s speaker Girish Gautam also expressed his displeasure with Shah Rukh Khan’s upcoming film Pathaan.

The film’s first song ‘Besharam Rang’ has drawn the attention of many politicians, who have termed it indecent.

According to reports, Gautham said: “Shah Rukh should watch this film with his daughter, upload a picture and tell the world that he is watching it with his daughter.

“I challenge you to make a similar film on the Prophet and run it.”

Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan, co-starring Deepika Padukone and John Abraham, is slated to hit the theatres on January 25, 2025.
